T. Fleetwood | -16 (9) |
X. Schauffele | -15 (9) |
S. Scheffler | -14 (11) |
T. Kim | -13 (11) |
N. Hojgaard | -13 (10) |
R. McIlroy | -13 (10) |
V. Perez | -12 (13) |
J. Day | -12 (12) |
Schauffele, Rahm and Fleetwood all have birdie chances at the 10th hole.
Fleetwood, again, is conservative and is furthest away.
Can you believe that Rahm is pin high?
Schauffele has a great look and is below the hole.
He needs this to drop.
Desperately.
J. Day -12 (12)
Jason Day is not giving hope up for a medal.
He moves to 12-under, courtesy of a 33ft birdie putt at the 12th.
McIlroy -13, Matsuyama -16, Hojgaard -13 (10)
McIlroy grabs his third birdie of the day at the 10th hole.
The Ulsterman fires a dart to three feet from 105 yards and pours in the birdie putt.
Gold, at this point, appears gone.
But silver or bronze?
Matsuyama converts his fifth birdie of the day on the same green, rolling in a putt from 12 feet.
Fleetwood -16, Rahm -19, Schauffele -15 (9)
Rahm did everything he needed to do on the par-5 ninth.
He found the green in two strokes and managed to two-putt for birdie.
His fifth birdie of the day came courtesy of a putt from four feet.
Meanwhile, Fleetwood moves into silver medal position with a birdie of his own.
Fleetwood tucks it away from 11ft.
Schauffele was staring down the barrel of a bogey after missing left and leaving his pitch short.
But he escapes with a par.
Scheffler steps up to play his tee shot on the par-3 11th hole.
He plays a cut and the gentle breeze brings his golf ball back towards the pin.
And he manages to land his ball on the spine of the green and it trickles back even further.
Chance.
Scheffler -14 (10)
Finally, one drops for the world number one!
Tommy Fleetwood has 264 yards into the par-5 ninth.
He gets out a fairway wood and sends a towering shot straight over the pin.
But it has just a tiny bit too much heat on and it trundles off the green.
Up-and-down for birdie...
Schauffele tries to play a cut into the green and it stays straight.
He's in the rough.
Rahm, from 225 yards, finds the heart of the green.
Scheffler -13 (9)
Whilst Rahm was busy saving par and taking a three-shot lead, Scottie Scheffler cultivated another glorious chance to grab a birdie after a string of pars.
At the ninth hole, Scheffler had six feet to move to 14-under.
But his effort missed low...
Fleetwood -15, Schauffele -15, Rahm -18 (8)
Wow.
Tommy Fleetwood drains a 30ft putt, up the hill, for birdie!
He's back to 15-under and is not going away.
And Rahm somehow keeps his two-shot advantage by saving par from the native area.
That par putt, from 16ft, was hit with such confidence.
Schauffele was also in trouble off the tee so what can he do?
Can he save par from six feet?
He misses! Now he's three back!
Jon Rahm is in a world of trouble here.
His tee shot at the par-3 eighth is miles left and he's in the thick rough.
Schauffele's tee shot was better, but not by much.
"Not a good swing, kid," he says as he watches his golf ball miss right and settle on the first cut.
Let's see what Fleetwood can do.
It's much better and is on line.
But it's short and he'll have an outside look at birdie.
McIlroy -12, Hojgaard -13, Matsuyama -15 (8)
Hojgaard is not out of this by any stretch!
His tee shot was all over the pin but it took a heavy bounce and he was long of the green.
No matter, he rolls in a long birdie putt to move to 13-under.
Matsuyama's birdie attempt somehow stops one inch short and he cannot fathom it.
McIlroy, meanwhile, has to settle for another par.
That birdie putt was always missing low.
Fleetwood -14, Rahm -18, Schauffele -16 (7)
Rahm rolls in his birdie putt and moves to 18-under, two clear at the top.
Meanwhile, Fleetwood pays the price with a loose approach and cannot get up and down after missing the green left.
Schuaffele makes par.
McIlroy, Matsuyama and Hojgaard all find the putting surface at the long par-3 eighth hole.
The Dane is the closest...
Would you believe that Jon Rahm has found another fairway?
At the seventh, he's got 162 yards to the pin that is tucked on the front left of the green.
Rahm plays his stock fade and his golf ball stops on the second bounce inside 10 feet.
If he makes this, it will be four birdies in his first seven holes.
He looks unstoppable right now.
T. Kim -14 (8)
Scottie Scheffler's putter has gone cold.
But Tom Kim's hasn't.
Another one drops for the South Korean, and he moves into solo fifth on 14-under.
He's just three behind Rahm now.
Scheffler -13 (8)
Scheffler came out swinging and birdied his first three holes but nothing has dropped since then.
He's just made a par at the eighth and will be thinking he needs to make a birdie at the ninth now.
Matsuyama -15, McIlroy -12, Hojgaard -12 (7)
Matsuyama settles for a par.
As does McIlroy.
He cannot believe his birdie putt doesn't wiggle right at the cup.
Is he too far back now?
Hojgaard pays the price with a poor approach and taps in for bogey.
Oh dear.
That was a wild one from Tommy on the seventh tee box.
The spotters are looking for it in the scrub.
Here we go.
This is better from Rors.
The 35-year-old has just played a lovely approach from 163 yards into the seventh green.
Does this need to go?
Kim -13 (7)
Just incredible from Tom Kim.
The youngster fires a towering iron shot from 193 yards onto the seventh green and rolls in the 15-footer.
Rahm -17, Schauffele -16, Fleetwood -15 (6)
Boom!
Rahm drains a long birdie putt at the sixth green to take the solo lead on 17-under.
That putt never looked anywhere else other than the centre of the cup.
The Spanish fans have lost it on the sixth green!
How does X-Man respond?
It's a great effort, but the birdie putt stops short.
Fleetwood comes out of his putt and misses high, but tidies up the par.
The Spaniard finds another green in regulation at the par-4 sixth hole and has an outside look at birdie.
