Olympics Golf Final Round: LIVE leaderboard and updates from Le Golf National in Paris

Welcome to live golf scores, updates and commentary from the final round of the 2024 Men's Olympics Golf Tournament at Le Golf National.

Scottie Scheffler continued his remarkable year by claiming the gold medal in the Olympic men's golf competition in Paris.

Scheffler tore round Le Golf National on Sunday, carding a final round of 9-under 62 to reach 19-under par.

England's Tommy Fleetwood secured the silver medal, finishing on 18-under par.

Hideki Mastuyama took the bronze after he finished one stroke behind the Englishman.

Jon Rahm held a four-shot lead at the summit on the back nine but two bogeys and a double bogey from the Spaniard saw his challenge for the gold medal blow up in smoke.

Rahm finished in a tie for fifth on 15-under with Rory McIlroy.

Home favourite Victor Perez fired a sublime, out-of-nowhere 63 to finish in solo fourth on 16-under.

Nicolai Hojgaard, Tom Kim, Joaquin Niemann, Thomas Detry, Jason Day, Corey Conners and Xander Schauffele also finished inside the top-10.

Jon Rahm is out of the medal positions!

Rahm -16, Fleetwood -18 (14)

Can you believe this?

Rahm was in trouble off the tee and was forced to lay up.

From there, he missed the green left and watch his greenside chip come back to his feet.

He pitched on. Just.

Then missed from three feet for his bogey.

That is huge.

Meanwhile, Fleetwood saves par after drawing a dreadful lie with his approach.

Scottie Scheffler pounces

Scheffler -18 (16)

Wow.

I have no words for the golf I am watching right now.

Scheffler ties for the lead alongside Rahm and Fleetwood.

Two to play for the American.

15:32
Disaster for Rory McIlroy

McIlroy -15 (15)

Goodness gracious me.

McIlroy looks utterly dejected after making a double bogey at the 15th.

After taking a drop, he fires his fourth miles from the pin and has a long putt for a five.

It's a great effort but that's two shots dropped at the most crucial time.

Tense stuff...

15:26
RORY IN THE WATER!

Rory Daniel McIlroy.

Has his charge for the gold medal just blown up in smoke?

He's found the water with his approach at the 14th...

15:24
Mind-boggling stuff from Scheffler!

Scheffler has a birdie putt inside 10 feet to tie for the lead at the par-3 16th.

This is extraordinary golf!

15:22
Scheffler moves to within one!

Scheffler -17 (15)

Dart from Scheffler to two feet at the 15th and now he's one back after tapping in!

I can't spake.

15:19
As it stands...
Here's how it's looking...
Here's how it's looking...
15:16
Matsuyama can't believe it

Matsuyama -17 (14)

The Japanese golfer is devastated.

He was on the putting surface in two, but walks away with a par!

15:15
"Get a good lie"

The words of Jon Rahm, after his tee shot at the 14th finds the rough left of the fairway.

Can he muscle that out and reach in two?

15:13
McIlroy moves within one

McIlroy -17 (14)

McIlroy's long-range eagle putt is short but it's an easy birdie.

He moves one back of the gold medal position!

Every single shot now is critical.

15:11
Pars for Fleetwood and Rahm, Schauffele drops back

Rahn -18, Fleetwood -18, Schauffele -14 (13)

It's an ugly bogey for Schauffele at the 13th.

In truth, he was fortunate to escape with a five as his fourth shot didn't sound like he made clean contact.

Fleetwood also knocks in a knee-knocker for par.

Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy is on the green in two at the par-5 14th...

15:04
The wheels have come off for Xander Schauffele

Who would have thought this would happened?

The American's race is surely run now.

He's just found the water with his approach at the 13th...

15:03
PEREZ BIRDIE

V. Perez -16 (16)

My word.

Perez drains his 14 foot birdie putt to reach 16-under!

His last five holes:

  • Birdie
  • Birdie
  • Eagle
  • Birdie
  • Birdie
15:01
Rahm in more trouble

Rahm is playing his second from the fairway at the par-4 13th.

He plays a high draw from 171 yards but it's long of the green and he has work to do.

Again.

Fleetwood is on the putting surface but he's miles away.

14:58
Here comes the home favourite!

Perez -15 (15)

What a run from the home favourite Victor Perez!

The Frenchman has played his last four holes in 5-under!

And his approach at the par-3 16th is straight at the flag!

Are we seeing the unthinkable unfold?

Tommy Fleetwood ties for the lead

Fleetwood -18, Rahm -18, Schauffele -15 (12)

What is going on here?

Rahm has somehow surrendered a four-stroke lead within two holes.

He's just made back-to-back bogeys whereas Fleetwood finds his second birdie in a row!

14:54
Here comes McIlroy?!

What is going on!

Rory McIlroy finds four birdies in a row to move to 16-under, just two back of the lead.

14:42
Two-shot swing

Rahm -19, Fleetwood -17, Schauffele -16 (11)

Absolutely wild stuff from Jon Rahm on the 11th green there.

The Spaniard misses from close range to drop a shot.

Fleetwood manages to sink his birdie putt from 15 feet.

This leaderboard is constantly changing.

Can Schauffele follow in Fleetwood for birdie?

Yes.

Scenes.

14:39
We're back

Apologies for the blackout in updates as we had some technical difficulties.

Hopefully they are all resolved now.

14:30
"Fade left, any second"

Rory McIlroy was worried about his tee shot at the 12th.

It looked as though his TP5x was heading straight into the fairway bunker, until it heeded his call.

Birdie chance now.

Three on the bounce?

14:28
Safe shot from Jon Rahm

Rahm, Schauffele and Fleetwood are safely onboard the par-3 11th.

Understandably, Rahm doesn't take the pin on after taking a four-shot lead.

Schauffele and Fleetwood, do, though.

Good chances coming up for both.

14:25
Rahm extends his lead

Rahm -20, Fleetwood -16, Schauffele -15 (10)

Everyone is playing for silver now, it appears.

Fleetwood and Schauffele's birdie attempts both slide by on either sides of the cup.

But Rahm is feeling it right now.

Straight down the middle.

He's FOUR shots clear after playing his first 10 holes in 6-under.

14:23
Here comes Rors

R. McIlroy -14 (11)

Back-to-back birdies for Rory McIlroy.

The Northern Irishman salutes the crowd after knocking in a birdie putt on the 11th green from 15 feet.

And as I type these words, the Spanish crowd have gone wild...
