Multiple PGA Tour winner Billy Horschel says he had to yell at his son to get out of the way before he hit an incredible left-handed shot during the final round of the Valspar Championship.

Horschel found himself in a spot of bother at the par-5 5th hole at Innisbrook Resort's Copperhead Course.

The American did the hard part by finding the fairway with his tee shot but tugged his 3-iron lay up left into the rough.

From there, he was unable to make a full swing because a tree was in the way so he went lefty from 126 yards.

If finding the green wasn't enough, Horschel then rolled in his birdie putt from 32 feet to shock the Golf Channel commentary team.

Former PGA Tour pro turned analyst Smylie Kaufman said: "No way! What did we just watch?"

Horschel later told reporters of the truly insane shot: "We were laying up with a 3-iron and I just sort of just didn't really cut it.

"We thought I thought the wind was off the left and at that point it sort of switched for a second off the right and blew it towards the tree.

"There was no way to hit it but lefty and, yeah, I mean, I grabbed a 9-iron hoping it wouldn't go too far and I was just hoping to get it up in the air and go straight."

Horschel added: "The funny thing was my little boy was about 50 yards it in front of me just to the left on the cart path sitting down, and I had to yell at him to sort of get out of the way because I didn't know exactly where this thing could go.

"Last thing I need to do is call my wife and tell her I just hit my son with a golf ball.

"But, yeah, listen, it was a hit and hope shot and I pulled it off and to make the putt sort of was with just sort of, yeah, I mean, funny things happen like that."

Watch the moment here:

Horschel eventually posted a final round of 4-under 67 to finish in a tie for fourth with Bud Cauley and Japan's Ryo Hisatsune.

Viktor Hovland emerged the winner, grabbing his first title since the 2023 Tour Championship.

Justin Thomas and the Norwegian were in contention down the stretch but the American faltered on the final three holes.

Thomas made bogeys at 16 and 18 whilst Hovland held his nerve to win by one stroke
