PGA Tour fans have now reached a unanimous verdict that Rory McIlroy 'intentionally' snapped his TaylorMade Qi10 Driver on purpose during the final round of the BMW Championship at Castle Pines GC.

McIlroy, 35, endured a rare off-week with the big dog ranking 37th out of 50 players for driving accuracy (60%).

He was even caught half-heartedly throwing his driver into the lake on the par-5 17th in the second round.

But it was McIlroy's wild driver snap on the par-4 9th in the final round that was most shocking to PGA Tour fans.

As McIlroy thrashed away at his tee shot, he thought it was destined to find the water.

He couldn't quite tell if there were ripples, but either way he wasn't best pleased.

McIlroy took his frustration out by bending his driver shaft into the turf and snapping it in half as he bent down to pick up his tee peg.

But new video evidence has now come out on social media over the past 24 hours, and it's damning for McIlroy.

When McIlroy eventually got down to his ball on the grass bank, he took off his shoes and socks and played a stunning approach shot onto the green.

He walked off with a par and went on to finish 6-under par for the week in T11.

It saw him fall out of the top five to sixth in the FedEx Cup standings though heading into this week's Tour Championship.

McIlroy will start the FedEx Cup finale at East Lake six shots behind leader Scottie Scheffler in the staggered scoring start.

He will still fancy his chances of getting the job done though, especially given he is a record three-time FedEx Cup champion.
