England's Charley Hull was in a strong position after the first round of the Aramco Team Series in Florida.

The 27-year-old posted an opening round of 4-under 66 at Feather Sound Country Club in Clearwater to sit two behind the leaders.

Defending champion Carlota Ciganda is one of four players tied on 6-under.

Hull came into this tournament in good form having finished joint third at the Saudi Ladies International in Riyadh last month.

Her first event on the LPGA Tour in 2024 also saw her finish inside the top-10 and she has hinted her game is very much heading in the right direction.

On Thursday, Hull's round was nearly mistake-free. She dropped a shot on the second hole of the day with a loose iron shot.

Aside from that, she put circles on her scorecard on 1, 6, 10, 11 and 16.

The total prize purse of each Aramco Team Series event in 2024 is $1,000,000.

The Aramco Team Series event is a wholly international affair, with stars from the LPGA also in the field.

They include the likes of  Lexi Thompson, Megan Khang and Brittany Lincicome.

Hull has already tasted victory in an Aramco Team Series event. In 2021, she defeated Nelly Korda by one stroke in New York.

Hull has six worldwide wins in her career thus far but is yet to win a major championship.
