Mickelson rips into Shipnuck after Jon Rahm to LIV Golf 'done deal' tweet
"Pathetic human" - Alan Shipnuck says Phil Mickelson has been telling pals Jon Rahm to LIV Golf is a "done deal", but Lefty is having none of it.
Phil Mickelson has labelled Alan Shipnuck "the worst liar and a pathetic human" after the controversial golf biographer tweeted Lefty had told his friends that Jon Rahm to LIV Golf was a "done deal".
Shipnuck is the author who wrote the explosive biography about Mickelson last year in which the six-time major champion, who thought his comments were 'off the record', revealed he was intent on working with the Saudis in order to force the PGA Tour into change.
It was also in that book where Mickelson called the Saudis 'scary motherf****rs'.
Both Mickelson and Shipnuck have been involved in a ding-dong spat on social media since the comments were made public.
Shipnuck is now blocked by Mickelson on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In Shipnuck's latest book, he recently revealed how Tiger Woods 'orchaestrated' Mickelson getting blocked from last year's Open Champions Dinner.
But today in light of further shock social media speculation that Rahm is in advanced stages of penning a deal with the Saudi-bankrolled LIV Golf League ahead of the new 2024 season, Shipnuck apparently let another cat out the bag involving Mickelson.
Only Mickelson was having none of it.
Shipnuck tweeted:
Despite having Shipnuck blocked on X, Mickelson saw the tweet elsewhere via a graphic on NUCLR GOLF.
Mickelson tweeted:
Shipnuck was then informed of Mickelson's tweet, to which he commented:
According to multiple reports on November 22, two-time major champion Rahm is believed to have already agreed a fee to join LIV Golf but is asking them to change their format in order for him to move.
It is unknown exactly what Rahm wants to change about LIV, which currently stages 54-hole tournaments with a shotgun start.
There are both individual and team events running at the same time on LIV Golf.
Rahm's team have yet to respond to the rumours.
The Spaniard was last season said to have been offered in the region of $300m to join the LIV Golf League, but he refused.
Reports this week claim Rahm, now a Masters champion, has been offered nearly double that at $600m to leave the PGA Tour and join LIV Golf in 2024.
Rahm played in his last event of the season at the DP World Tour Championship last week where he finished T5.
He ends the season third in the OWGR.
Rahm withdrew his name from Woods and Rory McIlroy's TGL earlier this month and then gave the real reason for his exit.
He then confirmed he had absolutely no interest in replacing McIlroy on the PGA Tour policy board, which has only gone to strengthen rumours of a move to LIV Golf.
Rahm also will not be participating in Woods' annual Hero World Challenge next week.
LIV Golf announced their 2024 schedule earlier this afternoon.
