Joaquin Niemann secures second major invite following red-hot form
Joaquin Niemann has confirmed he has received a second major invitation following his second LIV Golf League win of 2024 in Jeddah.
Joaquin Niemann has revealed he has received a second major championship invitation off the back of his sensational form in 2024.
Niemann, 25, is arguably the hottest golfer on the planet right now, having sealed three high-profile wins in the last four months.
The young Chilean won the Australian Open in December and has since added two LIV individual titles in 2024 at LIV Mayakoba and LIV Jeddah.
His red-hot form earned him an invitation to this year's Masters, and he has also qualified for The Open at Troon, courtesy of his win in Australia.
Due to the lack of OWGR points on offer at LIV events, Niemann has been forced to travel in order to climb his way up the Official World Golf Ranking.
His hard work has paid dividends, though, and following his qualification for the Open and the Masters, it looked like he was also in pole position to win his way into the PGA Championship.
However speaking to GolfWRX, he confirmed that is already taken care of.
Responding to a question about his major involvement, he said:
Niemann also revealed he will attempt to secure his spot at the U.S Open with a good performance at Augusta National.
"I'm going to try and qualify for the U.S. Open," he added. "Hopefully I have a good finish at the Masters and I won't need to."
As of May 22, 2023, invitations to the US Open will be extended to the top 60-point leaders and those tied in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Niemann presently holds the 72nd spot in the OWGR. Hence, a good finish at the Masters could potentially secure his entry.
