Justin Thomas is an American professional golfer who is a member of the PGA Tour.
Nicknamed "JT", he was born on 29 April 1993 in Louisville, Kentucky to Jani Thomas and Mike Thomas.
His father Mike is also his coach.
Thomas had an outstanding junior career in the game. He attended North Oldham Middle School
Prior to his junior year, became the third-youngest player to make a PGA Tour cut at the Wyndham Championship aged 16 years, three months and 24 days.
After graduating from St. Xavier High School, he attended the University of Alabama. In 2012, he won the Haskins Award for the most outstanding collegiate golfer.
Thomas was also in the team that won the 2013 national championship.
Thomas turned professional in 2013 and earned his PGA Tour card on the Web.Com Tour.
His first PGA Tour victory came in 2015 when he won the CIMB Classic.
As of July 2024, Thomas has claimed 15 victories on the PGA Tour.
He has won four European Tour events and twice on the Asian Tour. He also won once on the Korn Ferry Tour.
Thomas has won two major championships. His first first came in 2017 when he won the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club.
Thomas won his second major at the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills.
Thomas made his Ryder Cup debut for Team USA in 2018. They were defeated 17.5 to 10.5 at Le Golf National in Paris.
The Americans made amends for that defeat in the 2021 Ryder Cup where Thomas played a central role in helping the U.S. side defeat the Europeans 19-9.
Thomas was a controversial captain's pick for the 2023 contest in Italy, Rome, given he had not played well that year.
Thomas contributed 1.5 points for Team USA but they were comfortably beaten at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club.
