Tom Watson and LeslieAnne Wade end marriage after just three months
LeslieAnne Wade takes to Twitter to reveal the reason for their split.
Golf legend Tom Watson and LeslieAnne Wade, who announced their engagement in May, have separated just three months after getting married.
Watson, 73, won eight majors including five Open Championships during a gliterring Hall of Fame career.
He also won two Masters titles and a US Open among 39 career titles on the PGA Tour.
Watson made his debut as an honorary starter at The Masters earlier this year alongside Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player.
Wade, who worked as a long-time CBS Sports executive, has known Watson for the best part of 15 years.
Watson and Wade said their vows in New Jersey before the 150th Open Championship at St Andrews this July.
But Wade has now taken to social media to reveal how an "unexpected illness" has got in the way of their relationship.
Sadly, the inability to launch and build our relationship properly in these early days forces us to terminate our marriage. He will always mean the world to me and our connection is forever. 2/2

"Over the past few months I have been focused singularly on a challenging road through unexpected illness," writes Wade on Twitter.
"Tom has been supportive including making sure I have the best possible care. I am beyond grateful to him and blessed that I will make complete and full recovery.
"Sadly, the inability to launch and build our relationship properly in these early days forces us to terminate our marriage. He will always mean the world to me and our connection is forever.”
Watson's late wife, Hilary, died after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer in 2019.
At the time of her passing, Watson said: "The void she leaves will be filled by memories which will always remain as they leave indelible marks on our souls which we will never forget. She said she was dying to live, not living to die throughout her entire ordeal with her cancer. She's my hero."
