The Players Championship 2023: How much Scottie Scheffler, others won
The 2023 Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass carried a total prize purse of $25m, which was the largest in PGA Tour history.
The 2023 Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass was the richest tournament in PGA Tour history.
It carried a total prize purse of $25m, meaning that winner Scottie Scheffler took home the top prize of $4.5m.
Scheffler won by five strokes over England's Tyrrell Hatton.
Hatton was projected to win approximately $150,000 when he made the turn in the final round but went on a blistering run up the leaderboard.
The 31-year-old birdied seven of his final nine holes to card a 7-under 65.
As for Scheffler, he put his foot down on No. 8, carding five consecutive birdies to pull away from the field. He never looked back.
This was Scheffler's sixth PGA Tour win. As ever, his wife Meredith Scudder was greenside to welcome the 2022 Masters champion.
His victory means that to date, Scheffler has now amassed a whopping $32,602,721 in PGA Tour earnings.

Why were they playing for so much?
Prize purses at The Players have been steadily increasing year on year.
But due to the emergence of the LIV Golf League, the PGA Tour announced a considerable boost to their prize purses for 2023 and beyond.
Last year's winner, Cameron Smith, joined the breakaway tour and was ineligible to play.
Smith took home $3.6m when he won at Sawgrass last year.
