Golf Betting Tips: Matthew Fitzpatrick looks value at Valspar Championship

Matt Fitzpatrick has had a fairly quite period of late on the PGA Tour, but we expect that to change at the Valspar Championship.

England's Matthew Fitzpatrick has been somewhat struggling to find his best form on the PGA Tour in 2023, but GolfMagic Editor Andy Roberts fully expects that to change at this week's Valspar Championship.

The reigning US Open champion has been struggling on the PGA Tour this season with just two top-15 finishes in his last six starts, a period that has seen him miss the cut on three occasions.

But returning to the tricky test that is Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort, a venue he finished fifth at 12 months ago, we are fully expecting Fitzpatrick to get back on his horse and gallop his way across the finishing line in first place this week.

Fitzpatrick looks the value call at 16/1 in what is a fairly weak PGA Tour field that consists of just five of the world's top 25 players including Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth and two-time defending champion Sam Burns, who has a chance to become the first three-time winner of this tournament.

Burns of course won here in 2021 and again in 2022, so you have to give him some consideration this week despite not being in his best form of late.

According to golf stat guru Justin Ray on Twitter, Burns is on the verge of entering the record books with another win this week.

Ray tweeted

"Since 1995, there have been 10 instances of a player winning a third (or fourth) consecutive time in the same PGA Tour event. Steve Stricker, John Deere Classic Stuart Appleby, Maui Tiger Woods (eight times)."

For my second pick, I'm going to take a punt on Canada's Adam Hadwin, who has finished in the top-12 places here three of the last six years.

Hadwin, who is available at 25/1, has also been playing steadily on the PGA Tour of late with two top-15 finishes in his last four starts.
