FedEx St. Jude Championship: How much they are playing for
Here's how much they are playing for at the FedEx St. Jude Championship as the PGA Tour's $75million postseason gets underway at TPC Southwind.
The FedEx Cup Playoffs on the PGA Tour begin this week with the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind.
There are some interesting storylines developing as we head into the postseason, where the players will compete for their share of the increased $75million on offer.
Of course, we have the fluid legal situation that is developing with the LIV Golf Invitational Series.
At the time of writing, we do not know if three the LIV Golf rebels in Talor Gooch, Hudson Swafford and Matt Jones were successful in their appeals to play here following their application for a temporary restraining order.
Elsewhere, Rory McIlroy is searching for history. The 33-year-old Northern Irishman, who won FedEx Cups in 2016 and 2019, is looking to become the first three-time FedEx Cup winner.
McIlroy and Tiger Woods are the only golfers with two wins.
Scottie Scheffler currently leads the FedEx Cup standings. His four victories this season have seen him rise to the world's number one ranked golfer, toppling the Spaniard Jon Rahm.
The FedEx Cup Playoffs could also very well be the last we ever see of Cameron Smith on the PGA Tour.
One of his PGA Tour colleagues says that he has signed for LIV.
Tony Finau arrives here in Memphis, Tennessee as the defending champion. Remarkably, Finau is now a four-time winner on the PGA Tour.
The defending champ enters fresh off the back of consecutive victories at the 3M Open and the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
There is, of course, a remarkably strong field for the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
