Brooks Koepka's PGA Tour season is over as he WDs from Northern Trust
Koepka out of FedEx Cup after withdrawing from this week's Northern Trust at TPC Boston
Brooks Koepka's PGA Tour season is over after he withdrew from The Northern Trust on Wednesday, an event that marks the first leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
With Koepka out of this week's tournament due to an ongoing knee injury, it means he will not be able to continue in the Playoffs as he is currently ranked 97th in the standings and only the top 70 after this week's event will progress to next week's BMW Championship.
The four-time major winner has endured a wretched run of form this year with just two top-10 finishes.
Koepka had every chance of becoming just the seventh player in the history of the sport to win the same major three consecutive times when heading into the final round of the PGA Championship two weeks ago, but he ended up shooting a 74 to fall down the field into a tie for 29th.
With three missed cuts in his last six starts on the PGA Tour, one of which was at last week's Wyndham Championship, the former World No.1 has slipped to seventh in the rankings.
"This is physical," said Koepka at the Wyndham last week.
"I know how to do it, I can do it, I just physically can't do it. My golf swing's fine if I can physically do it."
Koepka was sidelined for three months last season with his knee injury so he will be keen to get things sorted quicker this time around, especially with the US Open coming up in three weeks' time at Winged Foot, and The Masters fast approaching in November.
