Mizuno JPX 925 Forged Irons Key Features:

  • CORTECH Design featuring a multi-thickness Contour Ellipse Face
  • Grain Flow Forged HD process to deliver the ultimate in feel and feedback
  • Triple Cut Sole meticulously engineered to enhance turf interaction

The Mizuno JPX 925 Hot Metal irons were some of the most impressive performers of 2024, so to say I was excited about testing the new JPX 925 Forged would be an understatement.

Mizuno creates some of the best irons in the world, and when it comes to forging, arguably nobody knows more than the Japanese brand.

With that in mind, when these puppies landed on my doorstep, I was very intrigued.

Featuring a multi-thickness face, a grain flow forging process and a new triple-cut sole, these irons are packed full of tech designed to deliver unbeatable feel and performance.

To test out how well they performed, I took them out on the course before digging deep into the numbers at Custom Golf Works.

Let's get into it.

Player Level

The JPX 925 forged irons are ideally suited to low to mid handicap golfers. The workability and feel on offer will undoubtedly appeal to the better golfer, but there is still a good level of forgiveness on offer for those of us who don't always find the sweet spot.

Mizuno JPX 925 Forged Irons Looks and Feel

In living memory, Mizuno has never made an ugly iron, and that long held tradition has held firm with the JPX 925 Forged. These bad boys are absolutely beautiful.

The traditional satin chrome finish looks sophisticated and and the intricacy of the contours in the shallow cavity look very dynamic and sleek.

The JPX line has been a really popular range for many years, but I think in terms of pure aesthetics, these are the best Mizuno has ever launched.

From address the blade length is compact, the offset is fairly standard and the topline is quite thin. Looking down at the ball, these certainly look like a player's iron, but there is still enough there to inspire confidence for those who play off a mid handicap.

Feel is where Mizuno has historically excelled when it comes to irons, and thanks to the grain flow forging process used to create these irons, it's a big win again for the Japanese brand.

Soft, responsive and oh so smooth, these irons are an absolute delight to hit. From the centre, they feel like absolute butter, and from poor strikes there is plenty of feedback on offer, which is key for those looking to really improve their ball striking.

Another aspect of these clubs that I love is how they interact with the turf. Thanks to the new triple cut sole, the leading edge glides through the turf with ease.

Performance-wise, the JPX 925 Forged irons excel across all key metrics, delivering a blend of precision, control, and forgiveness that caters to a wide range of players.

For skilled golfers who value workability, these irons are a standout choice. The compact blade length and subtle offset make it easy to manipulate the face, allowing for effortless shot shaping. Whether you need a controlled fade, a penetrating draw, or a low punch shot under the wind, the JPX 925 Forged delivers with precision.

The thinner topline and refined design also give you the visual confidence to execute creative shot-making when faced with challenging lies or pin placements.

Distance control is another area where the JPX 925 Forged shine. Thanks to the forged construction and advanced face technology, these irons provide consistent ball speeds, ensuring predictable trajectories and carry distances. Whether you're attacking pins with a short iron or trying to stick a long iron on a tight green, you can trust these clubs to deliver repeatable results.

Consistency across the face is equally impressive. While pure strikes are rewarded with incredible feel and control, slight mishits still perform admirably. This is where Mizuno’s balanced approach truly shines: the irons provide enough forgiveness to keep marginal shots in play, without compromising the precision expected from a player's iron.

This balance of workability, distance control, and consistency makes the JPX 925 Forged a versatile performer, equally suitable for low-handicap players seeking control and mid-handicap golfers looking for a touch of forgiveness without sacrificing feel.
