Pros
- A fast, fully customisable low-spinning driver offering from Cobra that will certainly rival any brand for speed in 2025
Cons
- Forgiveness still lacking
- I would heavily push even the most established of golfers into the core model due to the forgiveness improvement

Cobra DS-Adapt LS Driver Key Features

  • SmartPad technology to keep face square with loft and lie changes
  • Progressive Aero shaping to reduce drag and increase club speed
  • Movable weight technology to maximise shot shaping
  • FUTUREFIT 33 Adjustable Hosel System

Cobra has stepped up their chase for speed by becoming the most customisable driver on the market, with the new DS-ADAPT range.

With four models in play for 2025, the LS head is said to offer the lowest spin, fastest ball speed, and most enhanced shot-shaping ability.

The DS-Adapt LS introduces a range of advanced features, with two standout innovations debuting in 2025: the adjustable hosel and the Smartpad. These work seamlessly together, offering golfers 33 loft and lie settings via the adjustable hosel while the Smartpad’s innovative sole geometry keeps the clubface square at address, no matter the chosen configuration.

To evaluate its performance, GolfMagic’s Equipment Editor Alex Lodge and I tested the DS-Adapt LS on the course and analysed its numbers extensively using a GC Quad launch monitor at Foresight HQ.

Let's get into it.

Player Level

This driver would suit the golfer who is looking for the fastest speed possible in a driver, and is confident they are able to find the middle of the clubface the majority of the time. The LS is a slightly fade bias club, and although the weighting can negate this, I would consider this a factor if you're miss involves an open clubface.

Cobra DS-Adapt LS Looks and feel

The 2024 Cobra Darkspeed line received its medals for looks alone. A stealthy, dangerous aesthetic with inspiration from sports cars gained attention from every golfer, and rightfully so. The DS-ADAPT range continues this theme, with some slight colour changes in different models. The LS is certainly an eye-catcher, with a  slightly smaller head, deep face and an angular, aerodynamic look, down at address.

It’s quite fascinating to line the LS model up with the 460CC 10K MOI model to showcase the stark difference in size and shaping.

The feel is a moderate improvement to 2024, but nothing too substantial. I’ve always found the feel of Cobra drivers to be slightly robotic, almost lacking in the bounce that other brands have.

I felt that the LS and core model certainly had more softness to the face, and I enjoyed mishits more than other models from years gone by.

Cobra DS-Adapt LS Performance and Forgiveness

I was fortunate enough to initially test the DS-ADAPT LS model at a fitting session with Cobra, and then take It out on the course at a separate date in the UK.

This driver is extremely fast, with clubhead speed nearly reaching 130mph out in sunny Spain. The aerodynamics of this slightly smaller head saw roughly a 1mph increase to other, more traditional 460CC heads, which is rather substantial.

The performance, when out of the middle, was strong. However, my swing was not made for this driver.

I struggle with an out to in swing path which gets more violent as I get tired. A small clubbed with a fade bias (even with movable weighting) means my miss was a high spin right miss that didn’t flatter the eye.

When the stars aligned and I was able to neutralise my swing path and find the middle, the results were optimal, but I found my results to be a lot more efficient with the core model, and I would consider myself a good golfer….sometimes.

The FUTUREFIT33 system definitely helped me with my misses, and it's clear to see that this is a feature that will really step up Cobra's custom fitting quality in 2025. 33 different individual settings means this will likely suit 99% of common golfers out there, and can really push in that big miss to be less traumatic. It did take me some time to actually find the right setting for me, which I had no problem with as I found it extremely enjoyable. Movable weight tech with the FUTUREFIT33 means this is an extremely customisable driver.

This is a very good driver, however I like to see the ball miss left not right, and my ball striking would suit a driver that operates with slightly more efficiency across the face. The core model can now suit such a wide range of golfers that it’s a no brainer for me.

In terms of the low spin drivers on show for 2025, this will certainly be at the top for speed, but there are a few brands that will top it for forgiveness.

Should you buy the Cobra DS-Adapt LS?

The big plus with the Cobra DS-ADAPT range is they are significantly cheaper than other brands in 2025, which is a common occurrence from Cobra.

Value for money, the Cobra DS-ADAPT LS is right at the top, offering a good mix of speed, looks, feel and forgiveness.

If you are an established player looking for a driver that pushes the boundaries of speed, then the DS-ADAPT LS should be right at the top of your list. If you miss the sweet-spot from time to time, then I’d recommend having a look at the core model. Fitters know best, so make sure you try them all out with your PGA Pro.
