The 2024 BR-D3 stand bag is the newest addition to Mizuno's bag lineup, and it offers a stylish, lightweight design for year-round golf.
To test out how well it performed on the course, I took it out for a wild and windy 18 holes at Woodhall Spa.
Let's get into it.
First things first, let's talk looks. The BR-D3 comes in four different colour options, but I was lucky enough to get my hands on the pick of the bunch: a stealthy camo design with beautiful copper accents.
I absolutely love this design. The camo print is modern and exciting, while the copper branding adds a real touch of class, dramatically elevating the whole colour scheme.
The Mizuno run bird logo features on various panels, only adding to the overall visuals on offer.
The addition of copper to the legs also rounds out the design beautifully for one of the best looking bags we've tested so far in 2024.
Moving on to pockets and storage, we have eight different compartments to choose from. All the usual suspects are there, from the large apparel pocket to the ball pocket which is removable for customisation on the back of the bag.
Perhaps my favourite addition to this bag is the two webbing side pockets, which are ideal for storing a phone for easy access or a small water bottle. The decision to add one on each side was genius, and I found them to be the pockets I used most during my round.
The fleece lining on the valuables pocket is also a nice touch, which will hopefully ensure any fragile objects don't get scratched.
From a functionality perspective, I found the bag very easy to use. Coming in at only 1.8kg it's remarkably lightweight and the shoulder straps had a suitable amount of padding in them to ensure a comfortable ride for 18-holes.
The legs seemed very sturdy and they pop in and out with ease as soon as you pick the bag up or put it down on the ground.
The four way top divider is my favoured layout. While full length dividers on the top and bottom slots are great, it would have been great to get one between the two middle slots to prevent your clubs catching when you take them in and out of the bag.
There is a lot to like about this bag, and while it's a relatively simple design, sometimes the best things in life are just that. Simple.
If I was to add an additional feature to this bag it would be a fully waterproof construction, however coming in at only £200 this bag already gives you a lot of bang for your buck, and adding more would only inflate the price.
Would this bag stand up to a shower? Absolutely. However if you do like to tackle truly torrential conditions, you may need to look elsewhere.
Should you buy a Mizuno BR-D3 Stand Bag?
This bag is stylish, functional and very comfortable, making it one of my personal favourites of 2024.
If you're looking for something completely waterproof you may need to look elsewhere, however for a year round golf bag that won't let you down, the BR-D3 will certainly do the job..
