Hideki Matsuyama loses ball in tree and it then drops an HOUR later at US Open
Hideki Matsuyama's golf ball gets lodged up a tree and then falls out an hour later nearly hitting a golf writer in the head!
Hideki Matsuyama suffered an unfortunate break on the lengthy par-3 7th hole in the final round of the US Open as his ball got lodged up a tree and did not come out for another hour!
Matsuyama, 31, trudged down the left flank on the brutal 272-yard hole only to soon discover none of the fans, ball spotters or officials could locate his Srixon ball.
After spending three minutes trying to find it, Matsuyama had no luck and he had to go back to the tee to play his third as a result of a lost ball.
Revealed: The huge offer Matsuyama turned down to join LIV Golf!
A golf ball just fell out of a tree on 7 and almost hit me in the head. I looked over at the USGA official and he said “I bet it’s a Srixon.” It was. He said, “That was Hideki’s ball from the groups ago. We lost it in the tree.” Normal sport.

Matsuyama found the greenside bunker with his next shot but to his credit managed to get up and down for a costly double-bogey five.
As it turned out, Matsuyama's Srixon ball eventually fell out of the tree by the time he reached the back nine - and it nearly hit CBS golf writer Kyle Porter in the head!
Porter tweeted:
Matsuyama ended up carding a dismal 75 in the final round and he would finish up just outside the top 30 on 3-over par.
