Tiger Woods commits shocking first in TGL history
Tiger Woods became the first player in TGL history to get a shot clock violation in Jupiter Links' match against Boston Common Golf.
Tiger Woods became the first player in TGL history to receive a shot clock violation.
The 49-year-old and his Jupiter Links faced off against Rory McIlroy's Boston Common Golf on 27 January.
Woods was facing a birdie putt on the 10th hole of the contest in the singles part of the match against McIlroy when he committed the infraction.
The 15-time major champion took more than 40 seconds to play his shot.
Just before he made his stroke, a loud buzzing sound reverberated around the purpose-built SoFi Center.
It was the first time in TGL's short history that a player received the violation.
Golf fans previously joked that honour would fall to Patrick Cantlay.
Woods missed the putt low anyway.
But it was particularly apt moment given in recent weeks PGA Tour players have been accused of playing far too slowly.
LPGA hall of famer and CBS on-course reporter Dottie Pepper ripped into golfers at the Farmers Insurance Open over the weekend.
She said players needed to have more respect.
The final group took five hours and 39 minutes to complete 18 holes.
TGL's made-for-TV matches take two hours to complete.

Earlier in the evening Woods declared his side would come out on top despite not being the betting favourites.
They were trounced 12-1 in their first match by Los Angeles.
Their match against Boston went down to the wire.
Keegan Bradley went up against Tom Kim to decide the match with the score 3-3.
Bradley and Kim tied the final hole and the match went to overtime.
Overtime in TGL sees competitors take part in a three-on-three closest-to-the-pin competition to determine the winner.
Woods, Kim and Kevin Kisner produced the heroics to win 4-3 and earn their first TGL victory.
