There has been one constant throughout the professional golf career of PGA Tour star Viktor Hovland and that is his trusted caddie Shay Knight.
Knight has been on the bag for the European Ryder Cup star since he turned professional way back in 2019 following a promising start to his career that saw him become the first golfer to claim the low amateur honours at the U.S. Open and the Masters.
The duo have have already tasted considerable success together, lifting multiple titles across the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.
Undoubtedly, Hovland's biggest victory to date arrived at the 2023 Memorial at Muirfield Village.
Frustratingly for Hovland, he is yet to taste success in a major championship but is sure to breakthrough at some point in the future given his obvious talents.
How did they meet?
It was actually through PGA Tour star Rickie Fowler that Knight and Hovland became acquainted.
They met at the 2018 Mayakoba Golf Classic in Mexico.
Speaking to the Caddie Network, Knight previously said: "It was no secret that Viktor would be turning pro at some point this year.
"Like Viktor, Rickie went to OSU – there’s a strong contingent of OSU guys on the PGA Tour and most are represented by the Wasserman Media Group, including Rickie and Viktor now.
"Joe asked me if I’d have any interest in caddying for Viktor when the decision to turn pro was official and my answer, obviously, was yes."
Their first tournament together was the 2019 Travelers Championship.
Knight immediately knew they were a perfect match.
Of that first excursion together, he said: "He drives it very straight.
"I’m also impressed with his mental approach. He’s a very calm guy.
"He can get angry, but lets it go quickly. It’s really exciting for me. I’m as excited now as when I first came out on Tour to be able to watch a kid grow out here."
How much does Viktor Hovland pay Shay Knight?
This is kept private, but PGA Tour players typically pay their caddies anywhere from $1,500 - $3,000 per week as a base salary.
PGA Tour caddies can usually expect around five per cent of winnings outside of the top-10.
That number is bumped up to around six to eight per cent should a player break into the top-10.
Caddies such as Knight can also earn money from sponsorships by wearing a hat with a logo.
In Knight's case, he wears a cap with a PING logo on it.

Speaking to Golf WRX in an extensive interview, Knight revealed he started caddying through his friendship with tour pro Matt Jones.
He was his caddie before he made it to the PGA Tour and subsequently joined LIV Golf.
Knight said if he wasn't a caddie he'd likely be working in landscaping given his affection for the great outdoors.
