Tour pro in disbelief at remarkable golf shot
PGA Tour Americas pro Eddy Lai produced one of the craziest golf shots you will see for some time during the final round of the Fortinet Cup Championship.
PGA Tour Americas pro Eddy Lai appeared to surprise himself when he produced a remarkable golf shot over the weekend.
Lai may have finished in a tie for 23rd at the Fortinet Cup Championship at TPC Toronto.
But the 25-year-old American undoubtedly hit the shot of the day during the final round.
Lai had just made a double bogey when he stepped up to the par-3 11th hole at the North Course.
His tee shot at the 225-yard hole went long and settled in the thick and juicy rough.
Lai decided his only option was to go sideways when his ball appeared to be buried.
And he executed it perfectly.
He chopped down on his golf ball and watched it land in the rough and ever so gently make its way onto the green.
Lai appeared in disbelief when it dropped for a birdie.
He eventually posted a 2-over 72 to finish on 5-over for the championship.
Watch the shot here:
Will Cannon, 30, won his maiden event and took home the top prize of $40,500.
He dedicated the victory to his father who is battling cancer.
"He taught me the game of golf, he got me into it, it's been really tough for him these last couple of months, the last year," he said.
"But, you know, he's always inspired me way before last year.
"He's always kinda taught me how to go about my business the right way, how to go through the right process, how to put the work in and have a good attitude and do the right things and let the chips fall where they may."
He added: "Just seeing him live that over his tough battle over the last year really inspired me that I know that that's true.
"It honestly makes golf look pretty easy when you see someone going through something like that."
