PGA Tour stars Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler overcame LIV Golf recruits Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in their exhibition match in Las Vegas.

McIlroy and the reigning Masters champion got off to a hot start at the Crypto dot com Showdown, winning the opening session - fourballs - comfortably with a 3&2 victory.

Both sides struggled to make putts in the foursomes, but McIlroy and Scheffler took a 2-0 lead into the singles with a 1up win.

McIlroy, unsurprisingly, faced his U.S. Open nemesis in the singles.

But it was Scheffler who claimed the bragging rights as his victory over Koepka took the PGA Tour duo to the 2.5 points necessary to win the match.

The World No.1 defeated Koepka on the 16th hole.

The Showdown format:

The first six holes was fourballs. It is also referred to as best ball.

The middle third was foursomes aka alternate shot.

The final six holes consisted of singles, with DeChambeau playing against McIlroy and Koepka going head-to-head with Scheffler.
