Scottie Scheffler's caddie Ted Scott chose violence when a keyboard warrior claimed millions of people could do his job.

Scott has enjoyed remarkable success ever since he teamed up with the two-time Masters champion in November 2021.

Such has been Scheffler's meteoric rise to the top of the men's game, there have been claims that he is the best golfer since Tiger Woods in his pomp.

Scheffler's 2024 campaign saw him win seven PGA Tour titles, his second green jacket and a shiny Olympic gold medal.

He underlined his status as the best player in the world with an emphatic victory at the Tour Championship last week which came with a $25m payday.

Scott has been praised continuously by Scheffler throughout their time together.

In his winner's news conference in Atlanta last Sunday, the World No.1 explained that Scott always knows what to say at exactly the right time.

He refused to divulge their secrets but it's clear Scheffler thinks his success wouldn't be possible without him.

But not everyone believes that Scott's job is burdensome.

PGA Tour caddie Kip Henley ignited a debate on X on Wednesday when he posted:

Henley has been a professional caddie for 16 years.

He spent the majority of his career carrying the sticks for Brian Gay and he has also looped for Eric Axley, Jason Bohn, Boo Weekley, J.B. Holmes, Stewart Cink and Vijay Singh.

He was also Grayson Murray's caddie before he was fired in November 2023.

Murray took his own life on 25 May.

In response to Henley's original post, one user claimed being a caddie is overrated.

"There are literally 10m people in the U.S. that could do Ted's job," the user wrote.

Scott saw the post and couldn't help himself.

"Wrong," Scott wrote.

He added: "Not everyone would want to spend time with you because you're negative and tweet mean stuff. So that leaves 9,999,999 people that could do my 'job'.

Scott's rebuttal drew praise.

Here's a selection of comments:

"I think being a caddie is arguably one of the more underrated jobs. It depends on the relationship with player and trust between each other. You and Scottie appear to take the trust seriously."

"Seems to me that you do your job in an incredible fashion, don’t know that anyone could do what you have done this year. Congrats, have a great Presidents Cup and a fantastic 2025 season!"

"Great response Ted He's just jealous you did so well at your job this year you made 10 times what he'll make in a lifetime! Love watching you and Scottie! Can't wait for the LIV vs PGA showdown. Should be awesome."

"Get back on Twitter more often Ted! This is quality content."

"Ted is the best in the business and a class act. Just like Scottie. Scottie hits the shots but Ted is extremely important. They're a great team.
