PGA Tour star Sahith Theegala launches club after errant tee shot at Valspar Championship

PGA Tour star Sahith Theegala was seen hurling his iron in disgust after an errant tee shot into the par-3 4th during the second round of the Valspar Championship. 

Theegala, 27, flung his tee shot out to the right into the rough.

Within a second of his ball in the air, Theegala threw his iron to the side of the tee box.

Golf Channel analyst and one-time PGA Tour winner Brandel Chamblee tweeted: "It’s getting out of control. It used to be that such antics drew fines from the PGA Tour, now they are encouraged to “keep it real” … these displays will echo into the future."

To Theegala's credit, he still got his ball up and down for par. 

He went on to card a round of 72. 

Theegala is 1-under par for two rounds at the Valspar Championship.

That's five shots off the pace, currently set by Jacob Bridgeman. 

Theegala is seeking a second PGA Tour title having won his first at the Fortinet Championship in September 2023. 

Viktor Hovland is enjoying something of a resurgence this week at just one shot behind Bridgeman heading into the weekend.

Hovland told reporters he's been extremely hard on himself during a tough period that has seen him miss four of the last five cuts. 

Pre-tournament favourite Xander Schauffele is also in contention just two shots off the pace. 

Theegala's tantrum wasn't even the best strop seen we've seen so far at the Valspar Championship.

That was saved for Patton Kizzire, who booted his putter across the green! 

Kizzire could now be facing a fine by the Tour.
