PGA Tour member William Mouw says he 'certainly won't be the last' to make a complete hash of the par-5 16th hole at PGA West's Stadium Course.

Mouw became a viral sensation earlier in the week when he carded an octuple bogey 13 during the second round of The American Express

The 24-year-old carded the highest score ever recorded at the hole, which features a massive bunker next to the elevated green.

He also added a triple bogey on the next hole and missed the cut by nine strokes after carding an 81.

Still, he has given an interview to the official PGA Tour website whereby he said he will practice what he preaches.

He wears a bracelet that says: "NEVER EVER GIVE UP".

Mouw said he won't be the first to make a mess of the hole and he certainly won't be the last.

"Golf is a lot like life, man," he said.

"There's adversity, and as a player and as a student of the game and as a person of life, it's not about dwelling on adversity.

"It's how can you turn your adversity into positivity and use that to fuel you to get better and look at the bigger picture.

"And that's something I did."

Remind yourself of the moment here:
What is the highest score ever recorded on a single hole during a PGA Tour event?

19 strokes.

Ray Ainsley (1938 U.S. Open), Hans Merrell (1959 Bing Crosby National Pro-Am) and Dale Douglas (1963 Bing Crosby National Pro-Am) have all returned scores of 19 on a single hole.

Ainsley and Douglas' arrived at a par-4 whilst Merrell's arrived on a par-3.

Merrell's shot landed the beach and he needed multiple strokes to get it back into play.

Ainsley repeatedly tried to play his ball as it lay in water whilst Douglas hit his golf ball over a cliff and took numerous attempts to get it back into play.

John Daly also took 18 strokes at the par-5 6th during the 1998 Bay Hill Invitational.

The former Open champion hit multiple shots into the water.
