PGA Tour fan-favourite Rickie Fowler says he is targeting winning multiple major championships before he retires.

By his own admission, the 35-year-old is not a young gun on the Tour anymore.

But he is apparently confident enough to suggest his long-term future will bring what he has always desired.

Fowler has won six times on the PGA Tour since his debut in 2009, including the coveted Players, but he is yet to break through in a major.

Would it be unfair to suggest he has never come close to fulfilling his potential?

His overall Ryder Cup record (3-9-5) also makes for grim reading.

The American was asked ahead of the Shriners Children's Open what he wants to achieve in the next decade.

"Ultimately what I wanted to do as a kid my dream was just to play on the PGA Tour and win on the Tour," he told reporters at TPC Summerlin.

"We've taken care of that, and it's nice to have that in our back pocket."

But he is reassessing his goals, he said.

He continued: "For me being close in majors and then to having some -- a few off years, getting back to playing a bit more how I did two seasons ago and just playing some good golf and put myself in position to win tournaments.

"You know, [it would] be nice to be able to have a major, if not multiple, on the resume by the time I'm done with this."

Fowler has come close to winning a major on several occasions.

His 2014 season was particularly notable, with the American finishing in the top five in all four majors.

In 2023, Fowler played in the final group at the U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club.

But a final round of 75 derailed his chances as Wyndham Clark held his nerve.

This year was a different story, though.

Fowler tied for 30th at The Masters, tied for 63rd at the US PGA, missed the cut at the U.S. Open and finished 71st at The Open
