LIV Golf pro Lucas Herbert says he's 'got the perfect schedule now' as he reflected on his first year with the breakaway after leaving the PGA Tour

Herbert was one of several players who joined the Saudi-backed breakaway for the 2023-2024 campaign at the turn of the year.

The Australian, unsurprisingly, joined up with Cameron Smith's Ripper.

Smith's team found success in April by winning the first ever team playoff in front a raucous home crowd in Adelaide.

Herbert told News.com.au that he's now got the perfect schedule and has time to pick the brains of the likes of Smith to improve his game.

"I played so much more in 2023, but it's just a perfect schedule now," Herbert said.

"You get your time to get away from the game and get your development blocks to be able to get better, not just from a perspective of hitting balls for three or four days and then go to an event, you can actually really work on your game and elevate your skill set rather than just tune it up.

"So just the knowledge I've been able to zap from my teammates at various stages throughout the year has been awesome, and my game has massively benefited from that."

Herbert said it was also beneficial that travel and accomodation is taken care of with LIV.

"And not on our dollar, which is nice," he said.

He added: "I've loved the fact that it feels like a real family out there with LIV obviously. If you think of PGA Tour events, 156 players, 156 different caddies, 156 different families, whether it be girlfriends, parents, kids, everything, and then that changes week to week.

"Players go home, others come out, and you just don't get the ability to get to know guys as well as you know out here on LIV, it's like it's the same 54 guys every week."

Herbert finished 25th in the overall standings this season.

It means that he is able to negotiate a transfer with another team if he wants to, but Smith has already confirmed the Ripper line-up will be unchanged for the 2025 season.
