Golf Channel analysts Paul McGinley and Brandel Chamblee have fired shots at Bryson DeChambeau during live coverage of The Open by declaring that teeing it up on the LIV Golf League is a 'part-time job'.

McGinley, who spoke to GolfMagic earlier this week, also considers DeChambeau, 30, is 'not that interested in how he plays on LIV'.

A number of golf fans consider that particular comment to be a tad controversial, especially given DeChambeau brought the house down with a record round of 58 en route to victory at LIV Golf Greenbrier last season.

DeChambeau also won LIV Golf Chicago last season.

He has yet to win on the breakaway Saudi circuit so far this season but he does have six top-10 finishes in 10 LIV Golf events.

The big-hitting American of course memorably won a second US Open title last month, getting the better of Rory McIlroy by one shot at Pinehurst No.2.

DeChambeau is also one of only two players (Xander Schauffele) to have notched three straight top-10 finishes in the majors this season heading into this week's 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon.

On the eve of the final major of the season, Golf Channel analysts McGinley and Chamblee sat down to give their verdict on the form of DeChambeau.

While both of them applauded the way DeChambeau has conducted himself in the majors this season, on top of his good work on YouTube to help grow the sport to the masses, they both consider LIV Golf is a 'part-time job'.

"He doesn't need to play a lot of reps competitively like 99.9% of other players have to do," McGinley said of DeChambeau during a Golf Channel broadcast live from The Open.

"He can go from the lab to competing in major championships. I don't think he's that interested in how he plays in LIV, it looks like it's a way of..."

Chamblee then chimed in with: "LIV is a part-time job", to which McGinley agreed.

Lead presenter Rich Lerner added: "A well paying part-time job, it pays well."

DeChambeau is currently off to a tough start in the first round of The Open at Royal Troon.

The two-time US Open champion played his first six holes in 5-over par to give himself a mountain to climb to get back in the hunt for a first Claret Jug.

McGinley had some particularly strong comments about another LIV Golf player Jon Rahm when we sat down with the former European Ryder Cup captain in the media centre at Royal Troon on Tuesday.

The Irishman told us that he thinks Rahm, who signed to LIV Golf last year for a reported $600m fee, is one of the lead players who most wants to see a deal between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf get done
