England's Charley Hull carded a bogey-free 68 to vault into contention at the Aramco Team Series event in Tampa.
Hull started the tournament strong with a 4-under 68 on Friday and returned the same score in her second round.
The 27-year-old started the second round well with a birdie at the par-5 opener before notching seven consecutive pars.
A birdie on the ninth hole at Feather Sound Country Club in Clearwater saw her turn in 2-under 34.
Hull added circles to her card at 11 and 17 to reach a score of 8-under after 36 holes. She did not drop a shot elsewhere.
She is looking to claim her second victory in the lucrative Aramco Team Series which has a $1,000,00 prize purse.
Hull claimed the Aramco Team Series event in New York three years ago after seeing off Nelly Korda down the stretch.
To be victorious here she will need to see off a challenge from her European Solheim Cup teammate Carlota Ciganda.
Ciganda, who is the defending champion, sits alongside Germany's Alexandra Forsterling in a tie for second on 7-under.
American Lexi Thompson fired 4-under 68 on Saturday to grab a tie for fifth but she has it all to do.
The Aramco Team Series sees each professional playing alongside three amateurs. In total, there are 28 teams in the field.
The 84 professionals take part in a three-day individual strokeplay competition.
The team event concluded with Pauline Roussin-Bouchard's side winning by one stroke on 28-under.
Hull's side finished T-2 alongside Alice Hewson's team.
