Scottie Scheffler gives his take on whether Brooks Koepka should make Ryder Cup
Has Brooks Koepka done enough to earn a captain's pick at the Ryder Cup? Scottie Scheffler responds...
Scottie Scheffler believes Brooks Koepka has done more than enough to earn a captain's pick in the US Ryder Cup team.
Scheffler, 27, was speaking to the media ahead of taking a two-stroke lead into the Tour Championship where he bids to win the FedEx Cup for the first time in his career.
The World No.1, who starts two shots clear of Viktor Hovland on 10-under par in the staggered scoring start at East Lake, was quizzed by one reporter as to what he made of Koepka, 33, being one of Zach Johnson's six captain's picks next week.
Scheffler joined Wyndham Clark, Patrick Cantlay, Brian Harman, Max Homa and Xander Schauffele in the US Ryder Cup team having come through the top six in the automatic standings which ended at the BMW Championship on Sunday night.
As a result of Koepka being a LIV Golf League player and consequently not able to amass any points this month, the five-time major champion was forced out of the automatic top six into seventh place.
Koepka, who has just welcomed his first child into the world with wife Jena Sims, is now sweating on one of six picks.
Should Koepka receive a pick, it would mark his fourth straight appearance in the Ryder Cup since 2016.
Scheffler is adamant Koepka, who won his third US PGA title in May and finished runner-up at The Masters in April, deserves to be picked by Johnson.
The World No.1 alluded to the fact Koepka finished only 30 29 points behind Schauffele in sixth place.
Scheffler said:
Paige Spiranac is also convinced Koepka deserves his place in the team.
She also named another LIV Golf player, too!
Johnson's picks will be made on August 29.
If Zach Johnson dodges Brooks Koepka for a Ryder Cup pick then he truly hates LIV Golf

That is a full month before the start of the Ryder Cup at Marco Simone in Rome, Italy.
The USA are looking to win the Ryder Cup for the first time on European soil since 1993.
