PGA Tour pro Max Homa has opened up on why he called a spectator a 'clown' and meant it during the BMW Championship.
The moment occurred during Homa's third round as he played alongside Chris Kirk.
American Homa, who has now booked an automatic Ryder Cup spot, was standing over a 4-foot putt on No. 17 at Olympia Fields Country Club.

He had heard someone yell something during his backswing. Homa also noticed another spectator shout something as Kirk lined up his 18ft putt.
Turns out, the spectators were gambling for the mind-boggling figure of $3.
Homa's caddie Joe Greiner also got involved and had some choice words for the duo.
The golfer later told a pool of reporters he hoped that for the spectator's case he was drunk, 'Or else he's just the biggest loser there is'.
He explained:
So what did he yell at him?
It is not the first time this season that a player has been distracted by some gambling fans.
Jordan Spieth was distracted during the Tournament of Champions in January.
Spieth handled the moment the only way he could and told the noisy fans: "I appreciate the exchange of money. I'd be doing the same thing, but I can just hear you gambling right off the back of the green."
