Taylor Pendrith began his first full season on the PGA Tour by getting married two weeks ago and he and his new wife are enjoying their time in Bermuda.

Taylor Pendrith earned his first PGA Tour card by coming 7th in the end-of-season standings on the Korn Ferry Tour. He now leads the way after 36 holes in his fourth start of the season.

The Canadian was a very impressive amateur. In 2014, he qualified as an individual for the NCAA Championship and he is one of only two players in Kent State history to play in the NCAA Championship in all four college seasons.

Pendrith became a member of the Korn Ferry Tour after spending time on the Mackenzie Tour. From 2017 to 2019, he made over 30 starts on the Mackenzie Tour before joining the Korn Ferry.

He was destined for a life on the PGA Tour and this was helped by four runner-up finishes in 37 starts last season. Now, he holds a one-shot lead at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship with 36 holes to play.

Pendrith's game may be reflective of his happy personal life. Just two weeks ago, he married his girlfriend Meg Beirnes, who was a local hero during the thick of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

Beirnes worked as a registered nurse in the hematology and stem cell transplant department at the Hamilton (Ontario) General Hospital. The pair were performing heroics both on and off the golf course.

Pendrith shot a fantastic 61 on Friday to explode up the leaderboard. It was his career-low round and he sits on 11-under-par, weathering the treacherous conditions of Port Royal Golf Course.

"Felt a lot easier out there than yesterday," said Pendrith after the second round.

"Yesterday was some of the worst weather I've ever played in, just almost like surviving out there. Didn't really matter how you hit it, you just have to hit shots. Today was a completely different story.

"I told her (Meg) we're going to Bermuda and Mexico for the next two weeks, so pretty good vacation spots. The weather is finally cooperating so we can enjoy it a little bit better."

There are certainly worse places to watch golf. So far, Pendrith has finished in the top-50 in each of his three PGA Tour appearances this season.

He is bound to vastly improve on these finishes as we head into the weekend.
