Paige Spiranac fires back in sexuality row: "This isn't really even about me"
Golf social media powerhouse Paige Spiranac has fired back amid criticism in a row about sexuality as she gave her verdict on Sabrina Carpenter.
Golf social media powerhouse Paige Spiranac has fired back, saying 'this isn't about me' as she argued that women should be allowed to embrace their sexuality.
Earlier in the week Paige leapt on a post on X about the popular singer Sabrina Carpenter.
The X user claimed the pop star, 25, is able to embrace her sexuality on stage whilst also keeping women as her core audience.
This was the post:
Paige wasn't a fan of the post.
She explained how she doesn't like how women 'pick and choose' when to support other women.
She wrote: "I dislike how women pick and choose when it's okay to support other women for embracing their sexuality depending on if it appears to be for the female or male gaze.
"Women should be able to embrace their sexuality if that's what makes them feel empowered.
"One shouldn't be called a genius while the other is called an attention whore for doing the same exact thing."
One of Paige's followers told her that she was 'doing just fine' as she has the golf community 'in a chokehold'.
Paige replied: "This isn't really even about me. It's a constant theme I keep seeing with other women too."
This isn't the first time Paige has been involved in a debate about women and their bodies.
Last year she praised gymnast Olivia Dunne amid a rain of internet hate.
Back then, she said: "When I first started doing this, social media was still fairly new and there was no building really a brand online, it was just a traditional [career] path.
"And so I didn’t really know what I wanted out of this. But then to see someone like Livvy be even more successful and be able to capitalize at even a younger age.
"It just shows that it’s moving in the right direction for women, for women in sports. And it’s been really cool to see her growth and her development and the rest of her career [unfold] because I know she’s going to be unstoppable."
