TearDrop TD-7 Putter Key Features:

  • Leading edge alignment system: triple elongated back lines for easy alignment
  • Radial face design: helps deliver a smooth and consistent roll on the ball
  • Winged design: increases MOI to provide improved forgiveness

Over 30 years ago, when TearDrop first introduced its patented Roll-Face Design, the brand was one of the leading lights in the industry.

However, by its own admission, the brand quickly became sidelined because it tried to do too much too soon. As a result, it had to watch as rival brands quickly adopted innovations that it had introduced.

With those dark days behind it, TearDrop has now reentered the market with the launch of three new putters in the TD range.

Featuring the brand's patented Roll-Face design and a sleek new facelift, the TD range certainly looks the part. But how does it perform on the course?

We took the putter out for a number of rounds to see if TearDrop still has the magic.

Let's get into it.

Player Level

Due to its reasonable price point, forgiving nature and good looks, we think the TD-7 could appeal to and be used effectively by golfers of any level.

TearDrop TD-7 Looks and Feel

If you're a fan of putters that instil confidence behind the ball, then the TD-7 will be right up your street.

The large mallet head allows you to easily frame the ball in the centre of the club face, while the alignment lines are particularly good for setting up to target, especially if you're a golfer who likes to use a line or three on their ball.

In terms of aesthetics, the profile is quite refined for a high MOI mallet, and the simple black-and-white colour scheme looks great.

Flip the putter over, and the sole is equally as simple. White TearDrop branding is featured towards the rear of the head, while a selection of screws holds in the plate that makes up the majority of the sole.

Some brands may have opted to hide the screws; however, we appreciate the choice to leave them visible, as it adds to the overall visual appeal.

In terms of feel, the TD-7 delivers a soft sensation and noise at impact. The grooves on the face do an excellent job of dampening both the feel and the noise, and if we had to liken it to a putter you may have tried, it's very similar to that of a white-hot insert in an Odyssey putter.

Having never used a TearDrop putter before, we have to say we were really impressed by its look and feel. But how did it perform? Let's find out.

TearDrop TD-7 Performance and Forgiveness:

Having used several different putters this year, the competition for the number one spot in our bag has been hotly contested.

That said, we have been so impressed by the TD-7's performance that it has firmly solidified its spot as a gamer for the remainder of 2024.

Putting is obviously a very personal skill, but thanks to a combination of balance, weight, feel, and stability, we've found our putting has improved dramatically, having switched to the TD-7.

The squarish head is very easy to take back straight, which certainly plays a big part in starting the ball on the right line, and thanks to the well-balanced design, we've also found that distance control is very easy to pick up and maintain during rounds, even on greens that have different speeds.

Thanks to the radial face design, we've also found that the roll on the ball is very smooth and pure, which in turn results in more accurate putts and more pars and birdies.

In terms of forgiveness, the TD-7 is among the best putters we tested in 2024.

Thanks to the high MOI design, the head does a good job of returning the face to square at impact, and even from inevitable putts that do come out of the heel or toe, the roll remained pretty solid, with a minimal loss in distance or accuracy.

Finding a good putter is like finding the right husband or wife; it just makes your life so much more enjoyable, and that's exactly what we've found with the TD-7.

We've been really impressed by the putter in every respect, and it's undoubtedly one of the best we've used this year.

The TD-7 has been one of this year's surprise packages, and we highly recommend that you give it a try for yourself.
