Both large and awkward golf clubs make for a truly irritating travel companion.

We travelled to Spain recently with the Club Glider Meridian, and the experience was an absolute delight.

Here's why.

The first feature of this bag that makes it truly stand out from the competition is the leg mechanism that allows a second set of wheels to be extended out, bearing the weight of the top end of your bag. 

This mechanism, combined with the manoeuvrable caster wheels attached to the legs, makes guiding your clubs so easy even a five-year-old could do it if you trusted them with your precious cargo. 

This feature also means you don't have to constantly pick up and put down your bag if you are in a slow-moving queue, which is sadly a scenario faced more often than not when in airports. 

We were literally gliding around the airport, dragging our bag with a single finger, with the responsive wheels reacting to even the slightest change of direction with ease. 

It's hard to overstate just how beneficial the leg mechanism is. We were travelling with two other golfers who sadly had inferior bags, and the strain they were being put through just to move their bags a few inches was frankly painful to watch. 

As soon as we got to the bag drop, a simple pull of the legs retracted them straight back into the body of the bag before it disappeared onto the luggage belt. 

While ease of transportation is obviously a key consideration for travel bags, suitable padding and protection are perhaps the most important features a bag can possess. 

We've all heard horror stories about bags turning up with snapped driver shafts and broken heads, but we're pleased to report that was not the case with the Club Glider. 

Thanks to incredibly thick padding at the top end of the bag and a hard shell base, our clubs turned up in Spain in perfect condition with nothing out of place. 

Internal straps within the bag also allowed us to fasten our golf bag in place, which undoubtedly prevented any excessive movement in transit. 

Thanks to the abundance of space inside the bag and the two external pockets, we were also able to pack almost everything we needed for our trip inside without the need for an extra suitcase, which was another big bonus. 

Thanks to the heavy-duty zippers that also feature a padlock hole, we were also able to add an extra level of security to prevent any mischievous wandering hands from getting at our valuables. 

Additional details that we loved about this bag were the thick handles and straps. They are not only incredibly durable, but they also give the bag a very premium feel and look.

Rounded out with a lovely orange, black and grey design that was instantly recognisable on the luggage carrousel, this bag truly ticked every single box.

Sun Mountain also offer personal embroidery, which is a lovely touch.

If you haven't guessed by now, we are huge fans of the Club Glider, and we're happy to say it has absolutely transformed how we think about travelling with golf clubs.
