PGA Tour golfer Jason Day shows Masters officials true colours
Jason Day has auctioned the Malbon Golf vest he wore at the 2024 Masters which rubbed Augusta National chiefs the wrong way.
Multiple PGA Tour winner Jason Day went viral at the 2024 Masters Tournament with his bold outfit choices.
But one of them was too much.
We are, of course, referring to the white vest he wore during the second round at Augusta National.
Day's top featured the words Malbon Golf Championship emblazoned across the mid-section in huge letters.
Augusta National officials weren't happy and asked Day to remove it.
For his part, Day didn't make a big deal out of the request and nor did he ask why.
He said he wasn't trying to make a statement with his outfit choice but was merely following what his clothing sponsor had scripted him to wear.
Day also wore a pair of baggy pants that a young Tiger Woods would've marvelled at.
"I respectfully took it off," Day previously said.
"It's all about the tournament here, and I understand that. I respect the tournament."
Malbon later released a limited number of the top for sale to the public and they sold out quickly, despite the $248 price tag.
But what happened to the original?
Well, over the weekend Day auctioned it and it sold for $18,000.
Day has reportedly matched the figure, meaning that a total of $36,000 will be donated to the Brighter Day Foundation.
The children's charity was founded by Day and his wife Ellie.

Jason Day 2023-2024 season
Day returned to the winner's circle for the first time in five years in 2023.
He was consistent this season, but the 36-year-old didn't add to his tally of 13 titles.
In the majors, Day missed the cut at the U.S. Open, finished in a tie for 13th at The Open and tied for 43rd at the PGA Championship.
He finished tied for 30th at The Masters.
