Jim Furyk has confirmed Brandt Snedeker will assume the responsibility as one of his assistants for the Presidents Cup

Keegan Bradley was part of Furyk's leadership team for the forthcoming contest in Quebec, Canada.

The idea was to give Bradley some experience before he leads the red, white and blue at the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.

But the American PGA Tour golfer was chosen to be part of the team by Furyk after his victory at the BMW Championship

The PGA Tour confirmed Snedeker's appointment on Wednesday.

Furyk said: "I enjoyed competing together with Brandt at the 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah.

"He is a fierce competitor, great teammate and one of the most respected players on the PGA Tour.

"He will provide a steady voice in the team room, and I will rely on him for insight and advice as we lead our 12 players into Montreal at the end of the month."

For his part, Snedeker said he was 'honoured' to get the call.

"He's someone I've looked up to throughout my career and I know will be a strong leader for the U.S. team at Royal Montreal," he said.

"My goal is to add a trusted voice to our players throughout the week and do everything I can to help us pull out the win."

The 2024 Presidents Cup will be played over 24-29 September at Royal Montreal Golf Club.

Despite their dominance in the contest since its inception, Furyk was accused of 'playing it safe' with his captain's picks.

Along with Bradley, the 54-year-old decided to pick Russell Henley, Tony Finau, Brian Harman, Sam Burns and Max Homa.

Each player finished 7-12 in the official standings.

Justin Thomas was the surprise omission.

Thomas didn't react too badly to the 'snub' as he revealed he will have more time off to relax and prepare to become a dad for the first time.

His wife Jillian is expecting their first child in November.
