Tiger Woods' ex-coach if Jon Rahm rejects $600m LIV offer? "Out of his mind"
Tiger Woods' ex-coach Hank Haney says Jon Rahm is 'totally out of his mind' if the 2023 Masters champion turns down a reported $600m LIV Golf offer.
Tiger Woods' former coach Hank Haney has offered his thoughts on Jon Rahm's rumoured switch to LIV Golf.
Rahm is said to be contemplating a $600m offer from the rival league and will only sign if some alterations to the format are made.
In the past Rahm, 29, has moved quickly to deny he was thinking of leaving the PGA Tour.
But the Spanish World No.3 has - curiously - been silent about the chatter since withdrawing from Woods and McIlroy's TGL.
Woods' former coach Haney wrote on X: "If that deal is on the table and Jon Rahm doesn't take it he's totally out of his mind."
The Woods-Haney years began in early 2004 and ended in acrimonious circumstances six years later.
Haney sent the golfer a resignation text the day after Woods withdrew from the Players, citing neck pain.
During the period they worked together, Woods won 31 PGA Tour events, including six majors.
His other accolades under Haney's tutelage included:
- Being the World No.1 for 257 straight weeks
- Being the PGA Tour's player of the year on four occassions
- Leading the money list four times
- Leading the Tour in wins on five occasions
- Tying the lowest single-season scoring average (67.79)
Haney isn't the only high-profile figure to offer their opinion on Rahm's alleged deal.
Former NFL star JJ Watt (who lives in Arizona and recently partied with the golfer on his birthday) recently wrote on X:
The Rahm rumours began after he decided to back out of Woods and McIlroy's indoor golf league, citing time commitments.
Later, the journalist and author Alan Shipnuck claimed Phil Mickelson was telling his inner circle Rahm's deal was done.
Lefty refuted this claim and called Shipnuck a liar on X. In one rant, Mickelson accused Shipnuck of making up his sources.
"You are a lying POS," he blasted. Read more about that here.
