Tiger Woods' former caddie Steve Williams is set to tell untold stories about the legendary golfer in a new book.

Woods had the Kiwi on his bag during the most successful stint of his career.

From 1999 to 2011, Woods won 13 majors titles and more than 80 PGA Tour victories with Williams carrying the sticks.

Their relationship soured when Woods began to struggle with injuries after his extramarital affairs were revealed.

In the end, Woods sacked Williams in 2011 after he was forced to withdraw from the U.S. Open with a knee injury.

Adam Scott asked Williams if he would be able to fill-in for him and Woods initially gave his blessing.

Woods changed his mind but Williams defied the golfer, thinking it wasn't a big deal.

Williams later told how he thought Woods was joking.

But it was the end.

The looper has revealed numerous stories over the years about his relationship with Woods, most notably in the Chasing Majors podcast with Golf Digest's Evin Priest.

Now the pair have teamed up again and this time they have co-written a book.

It will be released on 1 April.

Williams told GD: "I've been feeling for a few years that I was sitting on a well of stories I believed golf and sports fans would love to hear.

"As I grew into retirement, and life slowed down, I really began to appreciate what Tiger did for me, what I did for Tiger and how special those 12 years were.

"Those circumstances will never happen again."

He said the book does not shy away from 'revealing what has happened privately' between the pair.

Williams said they have now renewed their relationship, adding: "Before I ride off into the sunset, I wanted to share something with the world that really took fans inside my 12 years with Tiger.

"I also wanted golf fans to know I have nothing but admiration for Tiger and the chapter we worked together.

"It's rare in golf history a player and caddie combine for 13 major wins and over 80 victories worldwide."

The full story of how Tiger sacked Williams

Williams revealed exactly how Woods fired him during the 2011 U.S. Open while appearing on The Dom Harvey Podcast.

Adam Scott called up Williams to see if Woods would let him caddie for him after the hall of famer withdrew.

Woods initially gave his blessing but then soon changed his mind, and that is where things did not sit right with Williams.

"So when Tiger came back he was having some injury problems and so forth," Williams told pod.

"Tiger was due to play in the U.S. Open at Congressional.

"I'd left New Zealand here and I had my father in law with me and I had another mate with me, and we were all going to that tournament.

"Tiger hadn't played in a few weeks but he was adamant he was going to play in that tournament, so great.

"Then he announced on that Friday that he wasn't going to play in that tournament.

"We had already left New Zealand to head to the tournament and it just happened to be that Adam Scott called me.

"He said 'I see Tiger's pulled out of the tournament, any chance you could caddie for me?'

"I said 'Yeah I think that should be alright'. I then rang Tiger and he said 'Yeah no problem'.

"So that was all good.

"Then we fly to America and then we were going onwards to Washington to Congressional.

"But then Tiger changed his mind.

"We had already got there and I had my father in law and my friend as I say with me.

"I had already said yes to Adam and I thought to myself 'I dunno what's the big deal, I'm going to caddie for the guy'.

"I didn't see the big deal about it. And yeah, so I caddie for him [Scott] and that was the end of the story."

He added: "Tiger for one reason or another, he told me yes then disapproved it. He basically said to me well if you go ahead and do it then I'll fire you.

"I thought he was joking. It got me by surprise.

"I had supported him and feel like I had done a great job for him and had done everything he had ever asked of me."

A week later, Williams saw Woods in person to formally terminate their partnership together.

After leaving Woods' bag, Williams caddied full time for Scott.

Williams - who is now retired - caddied for a number of other golf greats during his career including Greg Norman and Ray Floyd.

Woods' current caddie is Lance Bennett
