PGA Tour golfer Tony Finau was greeted by an angry mob as he arrived to host his annual charity golf tournament in Utah.

Around a dozen people gathered outside Oakridge Country Club.

They were there because they claim the golfer, 34, owes a large sum of money to a former family friend and his business associate.

According to the Deseret News, the protesters carried signs that said: 'Keep Your Word', 'Tony Pay Your Debts', 'Tony Pay Your Family Back' and 'Tony Don't Forget Uncle Toa'.

One protester told the publication: "No one knows the real Tony."

The allegations against Finau surfaced in 2020 when two men took legal action against the PGA Tour star.

They are Molonai Hola and his business associate David Hunter. Hola filed a suit in 2020 and Hunter did so in 2021.

Hunter's claim was dismissed in February but Hola's remains active.

Both claim they financially backed Finau and his younger brother Gipper in the early parts of their career.

As we now know, Finau 'made it' and has amassed more than $40m in prize money across his career to date.

The two men claim that between 2006-2009 they backed Finau to the tune of $600,000. They also seek up to 20% of his career earnings.

Finau reportedly did not acknowledge the protesters as he arrived.

His representatives have never commented on the allegations.

But his lawyers previously insisted on behalf of Finau: "We are confident that the legal process will carry out in due course."

According to the report, the protests lasted around two-and-a-half hours outside the club gates.

The report also states that the case is set to go before a jury in September, although there has been 'some talk' of an out-of-court settlement.
