Golf star Nelly Korda cracks up reporters after backing up Charley Hull over LPGA Tour issue
Golf star Nelly Korda gave her take on whether the LPGA Tour are taking seriously the problem of slow play after Charley Hull went nuclear on the topic.
Nelly Korda cracked up reporters as she gave her take on whether the LPGA Tour are taking slow play seriously enough.
Korda pipped England's Charley Hull to her seventh title of 2024 last week and while the Brit was quick to pay tribute to the American, she outlined how some players on Tour are playing far too slowly.
"It's ridiculous," she blasted as she described how fans are watching groups of three take more than five hours to get around the course.
Hull suggested, rather brutally, that along with shot penalties, players should lose their playing rights.
It would solve the problem once and for all, she said, although Hull acknowledged the LPGA Tour would 'never do that'.
Korda agreed with Hull that slow play is a big issue, but she doesn't believe she is the problem.
So much so, that her caddie tells her frequently to slow down.
"I personally think it's a pretty big issue," Korda said. "I think it's not good for the fans that come out and watch us.
"If it was me personally, I would be very, very annoyed watching for five hours, over five hours, five hours and 40 minutes, close to six.
"I just think it really drags the game down. I think that it really, really needs to change."
She added: "Players just need to be penalised. Rules officials need to watch from the first group.
"I think people just need to be ready faster. People start their process a little too late and they stand over it too long.
"Again, I think we need more people on the ground to monitor pace of play. I don't think we have enough people to monitor it."

Lexi Thompson, who plans to quit playing full-time after this week's CME Group Tour Championship, also agreed with Korda and Hull.
"Yes, I definitely think it's an issue," Thompson said.
"Rounds shouldn't be taking more than four and a half hours, especially in threesomes. Four and a half should be the max.
"Look, you're going to hit a good shot or bad shot. Might as well not take that much time over it.
"It's just a game. Just do your routine, commit, and hit it. It's definitely a problem out here right now.
"So I don't know what we'll do to try to get it resolved but hopefully just play quicker.
"I don't really know why it’s gotten worse, but it has unfortunately. There needs to be something done."
