Tyrrell Hatton: "Forgive me for saying this but that is just media bull----"

England's Tyrrell Hatton says any talk that he or Jon Rahm have regretted their moves to LIV Golf are completely untrue.

Tyrrell Hatton says reports he and Jon Rahm regret their move to LIV Golf are completely wide of the mark.

Hatton joined the breakaway tour last January for a reported £50m ($62m).

The decision may have been simple when it comes to dollar bills.

But in terms of his career, there was the risk that if he did not perform well on the course he could have found himself excluded from the majors this summer.

His Ryder Cup future was also in jeopardy.

Hatton, now 33, performed admirably across LIV, the DP World Tour and Asian Tour in 2024.

The fiery Englishman won on the breakaway tour, in Nashville, and also birdied the 72nd hole of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in October to win the tournament for the third time.

That victory allowed Hatton to compete in the DP World Tour playoffs which, in turn, gave him a boost in the rankings.

He has also appealed his LIV Golf fines issued by the Wentworth-based circuit and the legal dispute is unlikely to be settled until after the 2025 Ryder Cup matches.

So for Hatton, everything is gravy.

Still, some reports have suggested that certain LIV players have had buyer's remorse.

The aforementioned Rahm was said to have been unsettled in his first season with LIV following his mega-money move.

"We've all seen the rumours," Rahm said last August.

"I don't know why some people keep insisting and trying to make this happen.

"They did that with Brooks last season.

"They have to come up with somebody being unhappy, and the truth is, we're all extremely happy.

"Do I have buyer’s remorse? No. I don't have buyer's remorse. It's been a really fun ride."

Hatton feels the same.

In an interview with MailSport's Riath Al-Samarrai, Hatton also stressed he has not regretted the switch.

And he came to the defence of Rahm.

"Forgive me saying this but that is just media bull----,’ he said.

"People showed me some of the stuff that was written, but from being around Jon that's never even been a thought process that crossed my mind.

"He's really enjoyed it and he has certainly played some pretty good golf."

Hatton said he initially rejected LIV's offer in December 2023.

"Then during the Dubai Desert Classic everything flipped," he said.

"My head was a bit all over the place and it was a weird time.

"Like I said, it was a bit scary, thinking of what you are risking, but honestly, looking back a year on, it has been great how it has played out."

Hatton said he deleted social media apps off his phone amid the criticism for switching sides.

"I was a bit fed up with it anyway and that was the tipping point.

"I didn't feel I needed the negativity from people I have never met, but who think they've got a right to message things that aren't very nice.

"We're all human and I just don't need that from people who should have no influence on how I feel."
