Patrick Reed was accused by golf fans of offering the most 'on-brand' response to a hypothetical question from LIV's social media team.

The professional golfer, along with a group of his peers, were asked what their 'fake Uber' jobs were.

Reed, along with Richard Bland, Kevin Na, Branden Grace, Carlos Ortiz, Anirban Lahiri and Harold Varner III all offered various responses.

Related:

Said Na: "I'm an entrepreneur. I do real estate and I invest in companies."

Said Grace: "I'm not one to talk much in an Uber so I normally have that 'do not talk to me thing', you know?"

Said Ortiz: "No English, sorry."

Said Lahiri: "Nuclear physicist."

Said Bland: "An airline pilot or something like that."

Then came Reed

"I just hop in the car [and] a lot of times they recognise me, unfortunately," he said.

"No, you know, I've always been very truthful and so if I'm in an Uber or anything like that where it's all about them helping me out, I mean, if they ask what I do I just tell 'em, hey, I play golf and then we start talking golf."

Reed's response was met with a few apparent raised eyebrows.

"Uh, ain't no one recognising P Reed," one wrote.

Another offered: "No getting off easy for P Reed, everyone knows the 4 Aces."

Reed has been a LIV Golf player for nearly three years now.

He was among the first group of high-profile PGA Tour players to defect to the Saudi-backed league.

Reed has been involved in a catalogue of incidents over his career that have seen him labelled as a controversial golfer.

In a recent interview with bunkered, the 2018 Masters champion insisted people have the wrong perception of him.

Quoting the American philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson, Reed said: "To be great, is to be misunderstood.

"And I often think I am greatly misunderstood.

"I have I have always heard that someone else's opinion of me is none of my business.

"I like to keep things light because life is too short to let anyone rob you of your own happiness."

LIV Golf are currently on a hiatus and will begin their fourth season next February.

A promotions event will also be held in December to determine which three players will earn their LIV playing rights next season.
