LIV Golf enjoyed no success at The Open Championship but its reported $600m signing Jon Rahm did finish in the top 10.

A total of 18 LIV Golf players entered The Open starting the week.

Seven of them missed the cut.

Rahm closed with a 3-under 68 to be the only LIV Golf player to finish in the red on 1-under par, which was T7.

World No.1 Scottie Scheffler also finished on that score.

The Spaniard gave his verdict after the round and declared he knew exactly what went wrong at Troon.

Four LIV Golf players finished inside the top 30, but on the whole it was a week of disappointment for the stars from the breakaway Saudi league on the famed South Ayrshire links.

Bryson DeChambeau, Tyrrell Hatton and Cameron Smith were the three star LIV Golf names to be sent packing from the 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon on Friday.

DeChambeau and Hatton were without question the two shock LIV Golf names to miss the cut at The Open.

Both players carried great form into The Open.

DeChambeau lifted the US Open trophy for a second time in his career last month, while Hatton picked up his first individual LIV Golf title in Nashville.

But it all went wrong for them in Troon.

Hatton looked like he was going to sail into the weekend but he played the last seven holes of his second round in 6-over par to finish 8-over par and two shots outside the cut mark.

DeChambeau, on the other hand, never really got going from the word go on Thursday morning, and the two-time US Open champion slumped to a 9-over par total.

Hatton called into question the R&A's setup of the golf course in the first round.

Former Open champion Smith was certainly another notable name to miss the cut from those out of the breakaway Saudi golf league.

The Australian finished well down the board at 12-over par, which was one shot better than LIV Golf's worst performer of the week in David Puig (13-over par).
