Bryson DeChambeau spared by golf analyst in latest attack on LIV players

Golf Channel analyst and LIV Golf critic Brandel Chamblee has taken another huge swipe at the breakaway tour players as he broke down their form in majors.

Brandel Chamblee has arguably been LIV Golf's biggest critic since its inception.

Even before the breakaway tour launched in 2022, the former PGA Tour player was tearing into Saudi Arabia's growing influence in global sport.

Over the past two years, Chamblee has hit the headlines again and again for his blazing criticism of LIV players.

So much so, several high-profile players couldn't hide their joy when the PGA Tour announced their intentions to strike a commercial deal with the PIF last June.

"Welfare check on Chamblee," Brooks Koepka memorably typed on his X account.

Chamblee's latest 'attack' was a deep dive into how the LIV players have fared in major championships in 2024.

The 62-year-old pointed out that a total of 27 different LIV players competed in The Masters, PGA Championship, US Open and The Open

That makes for a combined 60 appearances.

Collectively, LIV had six top 10s and Bryson DeChambeau accounted for half of those.

Elsewhere, LIV players finished outside the top 40 on 41 occasions and missed 21 cuts.

Chamblee also pointed out that apart from DeChambeau, not one LIV player managed a finish inside the top five.

"Bryson is without a doubt one of the most compelling figures in the game and his newfound engagement with the fans was a highlight of the major season but on the whole LIV players were a huge disappointment in the 2024 majors," Chamblee wrote.

He added: "It is a relatively small sample size given LIV has been playing for less than three years, but it’s safe to say that LIV golf has been detrimental to the competitiveness of their careers when they compete at the highest level.

"To be sure, several of their players are missed from the upper echelons of the game from a spectacle standpoint but there is very little evidence that events are substantially compromised competitively by their absence.

"Or for that matter that the world rankings are very far askew given the fall off of almost all of the LIV player’s games."

Chamblee's comments caused a stir.

Some pointed out that popular PGA Tour fan-favourites such as Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler and Justin Thomas haven't been a pillar of consistency this year either.

Chamblee also had this to say when one of his followers asked about LIV players' bank accounts:
