Bryson DeChambeau outlines LIV Golf gripe: "They don't really listen to me on that"
Bryson DeChambeau has opened up on his thoughts on the LIV Golf League so far and where the breakaway tour is going in the future.
Bryson DeChambeau says he believes a network TV partner for LIV Golf is important for the league but the breakaway tour 'doesn't really listen to me on that'.
DeChambeau made the assertion in an interview with GOLF.
LIV launched in June 2022 but it took until January the following year for the Saudi-backed league to strike a multi-year US broadcasting deal with The CW.
The duration and exact financial terms of that agreement were never made public.
Phil Mickelson recently let slip that LIV are exploring options away from The CW in 2025.
"I know they're in the middle of negotiating viewership relationships and partnerships going for next year," Mickelson said in a news conference last month.
DeChambeau appears to believe that LIV need access to larger audiences, despite his YouTube success.
"I think it's important," DeChambeau said of the topic.
"But they don't really listen to me on that."
DeChambeau was more forthcoming when he was asked what he would do if he was LIV commissioner for a day.
What is the one change he would make?
"Wow, good question," he said.
"I think I would pick up the phone and call the PGA Tour and say, 'We need to have a meeting and get this thing [agreement between the two tours] worked out now.'
DeChambeau was once looking at the possibility of being frozen out of the major championships over the next few years.
His exemptions for winning the 2020 U.S. Open at Winged Foot were due to expire after the 2025 season.
But that all changed when he triumphed at the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No.2.
Still, there are other LIV players who still have that major headache.
DeChambeau reckons everything will get sorted out.
He said: "I would say it's a huge priority. The game is in an interesting place right now. It's going to get figured out. I know that.
"I have zero doubt that it will get figured out. It’s going to take some time.
"But I know that every single person on LIV does want to play in major championships, wants to compete at the highest level all the time with everyone as much as possible out there in those majors."
