Which big names are in danger of losing their DP World Tour cards this week?

The race to make the DP World Tour Playoffs is on at the Korea Championship, and so too is keeping a card for 2025.

It's tense times for just about everyone teeing it up in this week's Genesis Championship in Korea on the DP World Tour, the final regular season event of 2024.

Eyes are fixated on not just the top 70 in the rankings to see who makes it through to the DP World Tour Playoffs next month, but arguably more importantly which players will make the top 114 to secure their DP World Tour cards for 2025.

Then at the very top end of the DP World Tour Rankings, a host of players are fighting it out to earn a coveted PGA Tour card for next season.

As part of the Tour's strategic alliance, the top 10 players on the DP World Tour Rankings following the season-ending DP World Tour Championship next month - who are otherwise not exempt - will earn PGA Tour cards for 2025.

But in this article, GolfMagic takes a look at some of the biggest DP World Tour names in severe danger of losing their full playing privileges on the former European Tour circuit for 2025.

As we say, the race is on in Korea to make it to 114th or better in the rankings.

It should be noted that despite Matt Fitzpatrick being down in 132nd on the DP World Tour Rankings, the Englishman is assured of a DP World Tour card for next season since he competed on the 2023 European Ryder Cup team.

The same scenario applies for Austria's Sepp Straka, who looks on from 119th.

Ryan Fox is in 112th, but the New Zealander is also safe on the DP World Tour for another season as a result of his 2023 BMW PGA victory at Wentworth.

Fox is also fighting to keep his PGA Tour card at the moment at 105th in the standings where the top 125 after the RSM Classic next month will retain their PGA Tour cards.

So Fitzpatrick, Straka and Fox are all fine on the DP World Tour for at least another season.

But the story is different for these guys...

10 players in danger of losing their DP World Tour cards

Ross FIsher

Age: 43 Country: England
DPWT Rank: 108
DPWT Wins: 5
Last Win: 2014 Tshwane Open

Fisher might not be the force he once was in the game but he's no doubt a player you will remember having played in the victorious 2010 European Ryder Cup team.

The Englishman will fancy his chances of breaking the top 114 spots this week since he's currently ranked 108th heading to Korea.

He's not completely assured of his DP World Tour card for 2025, but he's certainly very close.

A solid week for Fisher will wrap it up.

Ashun Wu

Age: 39 Country: China
DPWT Rank: 113
DPWT Wins: 4
Last Win: 2022 Magical Kenya Open

Like Fisher, China's Wu is safely through as it stands, but only by the smallest of margins!

He will most certainly need a big performance in Korea this week to ensure his DP World Tour card for 2025 since he's ranked 113th.

Wu is a four-time DP World Tour winner following victories at the 2015 Volvo China Open, 2016 Lyoness Open, 2018 KLM Open and 2022 Magical Kenya Open.

Rafa Cabrera-Bello

Age: 40 Country: Spain
DPWT Rank: 121
DPWT Wins: 4
Last Win: 2021 Open de Espana

You could put Cabrera-Bello in a similar bracket to that of Fisher in that he's not quite the player he once was now in his 40s.

However, Cabrera-Bello's name is not one you would expect to see in the danger zone right now, especially since he picked up his fourth DP World Tour title three years ago this month.

The big-hitting Spaniard will need to bring his A-game to Korea this week if he is to remain on the DP World Tour for 2025.

He currently looks on from the outside in at 121th.

James Morrison

Age: 39 Country: England
DPWT Rank: 122
DPWT Wins: 2
Last Win: 2015 Open de Espana

England's Morrison is also in big trouble at one spot behind Cabrera-Bello in the rankings.

Morrison hasn't won for exactly nine years now but he's still a decent talent and it would a surprise to see him lose his card.

A top-10 finish would give him a fighting chance.

Adri Arnaus

Age: 30 Country: Spain
DPWT Rank: 123
DPWT Wins: 1
Last Win: 2022 Catalunya Championship

Spain's Arnaus won his sole DP World Tour event only two years ago on home soil.

But his playing privileges are now in huge trouble at nine spots outside of the top 114.

Like those above him, a top-10 finish will go a long way to securing his card for 2025.

Eddie Pepperell

Age: 33 Country: England
DPWT Rank: 124
DPWT Wins: 2
Last Win: 2018 British Masters

Possibly the biggest shock on this list.

Pepperell is currently situated 10 spots outside the top 114 and he needs a huge week in Korea if he is secure his Tour card for 2025.

The Englishman's game has dropped significantly from 2018, a season that saw Pepperell capture his second DP World Tour at the British Masters.

There was a glimpse of resurgence with a T12 at the flagship BMW PGA at Wentworth last month, but he has since followed that up with three missed cuts in the last four starts.

Perhaps he's been spending a bit too much time on his podcast rather than his golf game, who knows?

Oliver Wilson

Age: 44 Country: England
DPWT Rank: 135
DPWT Wins: 2
Last Win: 2022 Made in Himmerland

One of the nicest guys on the DP World Tour.

Many of you will no doubt remember Wilson from having competed in the 2008 European Ryder Cup team.

Wilson has shown glimpses of a return to form in recent times, none more so than two years ago when winning in Denmark.

But the Englishman will need to pull off something very similar in Korea this week if he is to retain his card.

More than likely a top-five finish will be required.
