Tiger Woods has now sunk to the lowest ranking he has ever occupied during his glittering 26-year professional golf career.

The 15-time major champion and 82-time PGA Tour winner is now ranked 1206th in the Official World Golf Ranking after they were updated on 10 October.

His previous lowest ranking was 1119. Woods, now 46 years old, dropped outside the top 1000 golfers on the planet for the first time in his career in July.

Of course, his dramatic fall down the rankings can be attributed to his heavily reduced schedule following his car crash on 23 February, when his Genesis SUV overturned at a speed between 84-87mph on a downhill stretch of road in Los Angeles.

At the time, it's fair to say we feared the worst for Woods. His golf career was almost certainly over, many predicted.

Since then, another improbable comeback and sent golf fans into a frenzy when he released his "making progress" swing video.

He was filmed hitting golf shots at the range during the Hero World Challenge last December then hopped on a golf cart a few weeks later to compete with his son Charlie Woods, 13, at the PNC Championship.

Woods went on to compete in three majors in 2022. He made the cut at 86th Masters but faded over the weekend, struggling as the temperatures cooled and the wind picked up. He ultimately finished 47th.

The big cat made another unlikely cut at the PGA Championship at Southern Hills a month later, but after a third round of 79 (the highest score he had ever recorded in a major championship) he withdrew citing discomfort

He skipped the U.S. Open at The Country Club at Brookline so he could concentrate on the landmark 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews. Woods missed the cut but was reduced to tears over the Swilcan Bridge as in all likelihood he bid farewell to anymore Opens at the Home of Golf.

Woods said he had "nothing planned" when asked for his 2022 schedule.

This is what it could look like.

Woods was most recently filmed at Pebble Beach clipping away some wedges before hosting the TGR Junior Invitational.

It followed him carrying the bag for his son Charlie as he notched the lowest-round of his career with a 68

However, some golf fans still felt that Woods' right leg hasn't healed as much as they would have liked
