PGA Tour places OUT OF BOUNDS notice at 18th to stop Bryson DeChambeau plans
Bryson DeChambeau said he was planning a wild drive at the 18th at TPC Sawgrass, but the PGA Tour has intervened by announcing a new out of bounds notice.
Bryson DeChambeau said he was considering taking a wild line at the 18th hole at TPC Sawgrass this week, but plans to do so have been put to bed by the PGA Tour after they announced a new out of bounds notice to stop him from doing so.
After winning the Arnold Palmer invitational last week, DeChambeau was asked if he had anything planned out of the ordinary for TPC Sawgrass at The Players Championship.

DeChambeau revealed that he was considering driving towards the 9th hole at the 18th tee, but said it would depend on the conditions and whether or not it was worth the risk.
It seems the PGA Tour caught wind of DeChambeau's possible wild drive at the 18th and for safety reasons have placed a new out of bounds notice for the par-4 last, meaning any drive that ended up on the 9th fairway would be penalised.
"In the interest of safety for spectators, volunteers and other personnel, The Players Championship Rules Committee has installed an internal out of bounds left of the lake for play of hole 18. Similar instances of internal out of bounds for safety have occurred at The Open Championship (hole 9) in 2017, the 2021 Sony Open in Hawaii (hole 13 and hole 18) and most recently, the 2021 Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard (hole 6)," read a statement on the PGA Tour Communications Twitter page.
The statement received multiple replies from golf fans, with the majority of them mentioning DeChambeau's effect on the game and some slammed the PGA Tour for the new out of bounds notice, saying it was more to do with their issue on distance rather than the safety of those at TPC Sawgrass.
