Will Zalatoris has vaulted to the top of the FedEx Cup standings after landing his maiden PGA Tour title at the FedEx St Jude Championship, the first event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Zalatoris moves from 12th to 1st in the standings and usurps four-time winner this season and World No.1 Scottie Scheffler into second place.

Scheffler missed the cut in the tournament, as too did Rory McIlroy, who moves back to ninth in the standings.

McIlroy is looking to win the FedEx Cup for a record third time.

Cameron Smith faced an unfortunate two-shot penalty in the third round of the tournament as he went in search of the top spot, but his eventual tie for 13th saw him bump from second to third in the standings.

It is understood that Smith will be making a huge money move to LIV Golf after the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

The top 70 in the FedEx Cup standings now progress into the second Playoffs tournament at the BMW Championship this week, with Wyndham Clark squeezing into the final spot by the smallest of margins over Anirban Lahiri, who missed out in 71st position.

Other notable players failing to progress into the next round of the Playoffs include Daniel Berger (86), Justin Rose (100), Webb Simpson (122) and Rickie Fowler (123).

The top 30 in the standings come Sunday evening at the BMW Championship will then battle it out for an $18 million first prize at the Tour Championship the following week.

The scoring is set up a little differently for the season finale at East Lake, which you can learn more about in our FedEx Cup Playoffs guide.

Here's how the top 70 looks heading into the second FedEx Cup Playoffs event at the BMW Championship this week.
