Andy Pazder labelled 'demonic sociopath' by ex-partner of PGA Tour pro
A former partner of a PGA Tour Champions player has described now former PGA Tour exec Andy Pazder as 'a demonic sociopath'.
A former partner of a PGA Tour Champions player has described Andy Pazder as 'a demonic sociopath'.
Pazder resigned as the PGA Tour's chief tournaments and competitions officer on the eve of the 2023 FedEx Cup playoffs.
It brought to an end a 34-year working relationship with the PGA Tour. It was speculated there was something more going on given the abruptness of his departure.
His resignation was also all the more intriguing given PGA Tour boss Jay Monahan had recently assigned Pazder to multiple 'taskforces'.
Those taskforces centred on how to reintegrate LIV Golf players should they wish to return and what sanctions should be imposed on the rival players.
When Monahan was asked about Pazder he wouldn't open up on the subject. "I don't have anything to add," Monahan said.
Golf later reported that Pazder's resignation was not issued voluntarily but 'came as a result of what the Tour deemed was inappropriate conduct and violated company policy'.
One person who took notice of the news was sports broker MaryAnn Reilly O'Neill, who previously worked to find sponsorship deals for PGA Tour events.
She started a relationship with PGA Tour Champions player Tom Pernice Jr. in 2015 and has since alleged she was the victim of domestic violence.
A detailed report by Sports Illustrated has previously laid bare all of the claims levelled at Pernice. A trial is scheduled to begin in September.
Pernice, through his attorney Patrick Donovan, has denied being 'abusive either physically, verbally or financially to Ms. O'Neill'.

O'Neill has now accused Pazder of 'resigning to a workplace affair with a subordinate while you are married'.
Why O'Neill has commented on Pazder's resignation is because she claims the now former exec covered up the alleged abuse.
She gave SI an audio file she recorded on her phone that detailed some of the alleged abuse in 2021.
And it wasn't the first time she had informed the PGA Tour of Pernice's allegedly violent behaviour, the report stated.
"Who are you @AndyPazder to scold me for using #meetoo," she wrote on Twitter after Pazder quit. "Meanwhile you just resigned due to a workplace affair with a subordinate while you are married."
Pazder's resignation was discussed on the most recent No Laying Up podcast. Tron Carter said Pazder's resignation was the 'tip of the iceberg'.
"All this stuff rolled up to him, Tyler Dennis or Ron Price [PGA Tour executives]," said Carter.
